Animals Also Feel

Although men declare that they have the ability to think and reason, for some things they pretend to be ignorants. We can feel; we can suffer, and we can also damage. Animals feel and suffer as well. In Shooting An Elephant George Orwell gives a clear example of animal pain “[The elephant] was breathing very rhythmically with long rattling gasps, his great mound of a side painfully rising and falling. His mouth was wide open – I could see far down into caverns of pale pink throat“(307).

 I strongly believe that we do not treat animals well because we are always harming them; destroying their habitats, and leading them to extinction. Humans take control of everything and they only think about their benefit, but what about the other living things? Are we to harm them just because they look inferior? People hurt them all the time; sometimes even for fun, placer, and money. When they do it for fun, they do it for entrainment. Why does a living thing that feels has to experience pain for others fun?  

Individuals that go to see bullfighters and enjoy, laugh, and participate of such a cruel games are cooperating in harming and damaging innocent creatures; even if they are not the ones’ hurting the animals, they are accepting this situation as part of their lives. What kind of harsh people are we that enjoy the pain of others? Many humans hurt animals for pleasure. Some people owns dog and cats “pets”, but they mistreat them all the time; the hit them, and they kick them. “Every year thirty-six million animals are abused due to animal experimentation and go through brutal recovery without pain relief”says moos Marley (1). And the worse part is that people enjoys their pain.

 For money. Sometimes individuals make animals their business. They are so sell fish that they don’t care over who they have to past; they don’t care how much pain they cause, and finally they don’t care how many lives they take. They only thing that is important for this kind of people is their well fare. Do they really don’t have any feelings that they are able to cause this much harm? 

In the Pacific Ocean, fishers are fishing sharks and cutting their flippers, so they can sell them, and they leave the poor mutated shark in the ocean. In a small time, the animal will dye because he can’t survive without his flippers. These fishers do this because the only part that pays of a shark are his flippers.

 No one will like if somebody comes and burns their house, destroy their cities, and takes away their lives. If nobody don’t like this kind of things to happen to them, why do they do this to animals? Humans have cut a lot of tress; they have contaminated must oceans; they have destroy miles of rain forests and jungles; they change thousands of natural areas into rural areas; they have fill the nature with trash, and they have killed all those animals living there. When they destroy their habitats, that make animal homeless; they put them in danger of extinction, and finally they take away that place where they saved their ancestors memories.  For instance, In  China they have cut the tress where pandas lived. Now, the pandas have to move into the rural areas and because of that a great number of pandas are dying. It is that what we want? Do we want to finish with everything that God made for us? So, now I ask you. Are we going to let this situation go any further? What are we going to do to change this problem? Although there are many who harm animals, not all of them do. In a  problem they are always good and bad people. There are some organizations that are dedicate to help and protect animals from cruel people. Zoos for example, help animals, that have suffer from harm make by humans,  by giving them a home, food, a longer life, and love.  In conclusion, some of us harm animals. They killed them, torture them, and destroy their habitats. However, there are some people that do  care about animals and they live to protect them. So, what kind of person are you? Are you the bad or the god guy?
