Anti-semitism on Facebook: The Dangers of Social Network Sites

"Official Group for Israel Haters" is launched on Facebook. Highlighting the Dangers of Social Network Sites. Is this what we really need? Is Facebook becoming hard of soft? And how many more problems will this start?

The social networking site Face book is useful for many different things. It connects long lost friends, creates relationships and help people find jobs. It can also create addiction and depression, cause jealousy, harm privacy and break friendships. And recently, I’ve come to ask this question; Why Does Face book Allow Israel Hatred and Holocaust Denial? I must thank the logger, Alwayswriteagain, for bringing this to my attention. The group is called “Official Group for Israel Haters”. How Many People on Face book Hate Israel and Support Palestine? Some one tell me please! Cyber bullying is certainly the lowest of the low, so I will certainly not be part of this group. Holocaust denial and anti-Semitism simply helps no one. However, Jews are no help to themselves if they act so vain, and state that they are the dominant force in the room (at least in my experience). I knew of Jew named Jonathan Nachman, (yes, i’ve said his name, to hell with it) whose only pastime seamed to be insulting everyone he came into contact with. They all argue the Israel is the only Jewish state as opposed to the many other Muslim states in the Middle East, and that they feel under attack. Unfortunately the face book group shows that they are right. One Muslim friend of mine informed his lifelong Jewish classmate of his religion, and was met with complete hostility. Why do they act so scared of other faiths? And Israel could start cleaning up its act by getting rid of professional liars like MARK RAGEF (who is right now the Israeli spokesperson), and stop building on West bank land! I hate what the current Israeli government does to the Palestinians. It is effectively doing to the Palestinians what the Nazis did to the Jews and nobody seems to be learning any of the lessons of History. Face book is a free and fair social networking site, and it does not have strict rules on what can be put up. But there is a limit to what can be said in the boundaries of free speech. Already Face book have shown their assertiveness, removing inflammatory groups relating to the Baby P case in Britain this year, and a certain BNP group has also been removed. I only hope the rest of the world picks up on this and learns that tolerance and forgiveness is the answer, on both sides of this divide. And lets all prey for a Palestinian state and an end to anti-Semitism.
