Arctic Ice, Greenhouse Gases and Global Warning
The Arctic Ice cap may be gone within thirty years.
At today’s accelerated pace, climate change in the Arctic could spell summers of no ice within thirty years—this per a conference of scientists held in Copenhagen last March. That’s significantly sooner than the original forecast which called for the Arctic to be ice-free by the turn of the century. An observer from onboard “Ocean Watch”, in which scientists have embarked upon a 25,000-mile journey around the Americas to study the impact of global warming, saw only one polar bear. Thus, there is just concern for its future in that region.

Thanks to global warming, the chief cause being greenhouse gases generated mainly by the activities of men, the edge of the summer time ice is 80 miles offshore, as of Sunday, 08/09/09. “40 years ago, it was 40 miles out”, according to 89 year old western Eskimo Eddie Gruden. He lives in a Canadian village 1500 miles north of Seattle, WA, where he has seen the ice retreat more with each passing decade.

Today, the water in the Arctic ocean is said to be quite tepid. Children are seen swimming in its warm waters.
