Are You Worried About Big Brother?
Usually people for some reason or another do not want “Big Brother” or in our case now “Big sister” to know their business. This is particularly relevant when joining or participating in survivalist groups. People out of an effort to preserve their privacy do not want to do things which may possibly draw the government’s attention to them. They often avoid some interesting groups and activities as a result of this mindset.

In all reality this secrecy is nothing less than rubbish. If your true interests lied in hiding your identity than you certainly would not be reading this article in the first place. You would be grossly mistaken if you truly believed that you can successfully achieve total privacy from the snooping eyes of the government. If they want to spy on you take my word for it – they will.
Our federal, state and local governments often establish labels and than attach people to those labels. As an example the governments watch list may not list you or I on it by name however they have identified the labels needed to justify their snooping. Within their book you will find mentioned the word, “survivalist” and than the governments clarification of it would follow.
The rightwing extremists which flourishes in America today are logically broken down into various groups ranging from the moderate to the extreme however if you express an interest in weapons, hunting, storage of food supplies or being prepared for any potential emergency you are being placed in the same category. Unfortunately our “Department of Homeland Security” fails to understand the basic principle differentiating our groups from those dangerous right wing radicals.
You and I may look at the situation as ludicrous and deny that these labels fit our philosophy however as sad as it may be the media at large, our government and the public often view us as one and the same.
Rightwing extremism can often be divided into several types of groups or movements which are primarily based upon hate oriented beliefs. These undesirable groups may form their ideals upon a particular religion; they may be racial or ethnic in their fundamentals or even antigovernment in nature. Few people understand that survivalists and preppers are not against our government but merely pro-constitution. We do not hate any particular group nor do we advocate violence to anyone. But once again instead of investigating our beliefs our leaders in power automatically type cast us with extremists.
Although many right-wing organizations express concerns on specific issues that we are interested in as well, we function in a totally different manner. We are both interested in the economy of our country, in gun control legislation and in the seizure of individual power by the federal authorities. This does not mean that we intend harm upon any individual or group. There are proper procedures for these situations. Just this week an Arizona Republican Ms. Gabrielle Giffords was the target of a crazed and senseless shooting. Jared Loughner the accused shooter was in no way representative of survivalists or preppers but merely a hate filled individual. In conclusion, it is up to us how the public perceives us and I for one like to make a favorable appearance. I volunteer for public activities and do not hide the fact that I am a survivalist. I am an emergency actions volunteer for the American Red Cross and participate in various city, county and state activities. We must change how we are viewed by the public and the media or risk being placed in the same light as the accused killer Jared Lee Loughner.

Mr. Parish -
You said
“Arizona Republican Ms. Gabrielle Giffords”
Corrected information
“Arizona Democrat Ms. Gabrielle Giffords”
Congresswoman Giffords is a self-described moderate democrat and a blue dog democrat.
Also, would you please point out some recent examples of “Rightwing extremism” that have took to the streets rioting, carrying out murderous acts or carrying out bombing attacks against their fellow neighbors. I know of none.
Political parties do not force people to become extremist, murderers, terrorists, rapists, or anything else. Individual people make the choice to do the things which they do.
Progressives have called for and encouraged violence in the streets, and this political party’s beliefs are well-documented, well-established and widely promoted in print, video and audio as well as in “ACTIONS”. Even tho, the Progressive Party have successfully spread their propaganda for decades, they do not have the power to force a choice from an individual. Each individual person is ultimately responsible for choosing to do something or choose not to do it.
Sincerely,
Nelson Doyle

Mr. Doyle you are absolutely correct in your assumption on Ms. Giffords” political conventions, she is a Democrat. I have no idea how I messed that up knowing perfectly well what her political affiliation was.
Continuing on with our topic, since President Obama has been inaugurated there have been nine planned attacks from Homeland Security designated right-wing extremists who’s beliefs border those of white power Aryan supremacy and other violent agencies.
Extremists for whom I speak are individuals such as the white supremacist and neo-Nazi member Keith Luke. He went on a rape and murder spree targeting innocent immigrants. His acts of hate crimes were likely fueled by the extreme right wing political climate. His goal was to kill as many “non-whites” as he could prior to eliminating himself.
Shortly after that we encounter the proclaimed wife beater and Hitler fanatic James Cummins who was killed by his wife. A later investigation revealed Cummins had radioactive “dirty bomb” material stored in his home.
Moving along we come across Dannie Baker who casually walked into a student townhouse opening fire upon 14 Chilean students. He managed to kill two of the students with his shots. His objective was to ease his fear of immigrants taking over our country.
Next we encounter another white supremacist, Richard Popalowski, wearing a bullet proof vest and holding his AK-47 waiting for police officers. During the four hour gun battle in Pittsburgh he killed three officers. This is another example of a person living in fear that our rights were being infringed upon. Later research showed that Popalowski was anti-Jewish as well. He was known to frequent white supremacist websites and leave postings. He firmly believed that the Jews were coming to control our society and as such became an active member of the extremist group “Stormfront” which is a white supremacist style web site. Unfortunately, one of his friends proclaimed him to be a follower of the survivalist movement which reflects negatively upon myself and other survivalists.
Army Reservist and Obama hater Joshua Cartwright killed two deputy sheriffs as they attempted to arrest him on domestic battery charges. Here we have a delusional individual who believed the US Government was conspiring to take away his guns since Barack Obama had won the Presidency. We all may have a bit of this paranoia over possible Obama decisions for further gun control however this is not the preferred method of dealing with the issue.
Racist Stephen P. Morgan shot a female Jewish college student inside a bookstore café believing it was okay to shoot Jews. In this case Morgan had actually known his victim Justin-Jinich for several years. The killer maintained a journal into which he laid out his plan to rape and eventually kills Justin-Jinich prior to continuing on with his campus shooting spree. In his journal he stated that he was going to target Wesleyan students as well as the Jews.
The founder of the militant Minutemen American Defense Group Shawna Forde and a few of her fellow thugs invaded a couple’s home and murdered them along with their nine-year-old daughter. Forde was a confirmed anti-immigration/anti Mexican activist and the founder of the 14 member splinter group, Minutemen American Defense Organization. Her second in command was Gunny Bush who has ties to the Aryan Nation group.
Although Scott Roeder may not have been a white supremacist or a racist his assassination of abortion doctor George Tiller still reveals a sense of right wing extremes considering his strong views on abortion. Along with his anti-abortion views Roeder was said to be a member of the “Montana Freemen”, an anti-government group. As Mr. Roeder was sentenced to life in prison he warned the nation that more violence was yet to come.
The list could go on and on. As sad as this may appear to many law abiding right wing people it is a tale which had to be told about. They are around, they do exist and these homegrown terrorists with extreme right views are in fact giving the rest of us a bad rap.
As you so rightfully stated political parties and organizations do not necessarily force their members to cling to the extremes. I in no way intended to indicate that the right wing parties and organizations were breeding grounds for unstable individuals or did I wish for anyone to get the impression that right wing groups are of an extremist nature. I was indicating how our Homeland security is now viewing us due to these isolated incidents which take place as a result of a few fringe individuals. My goal was to instill in fellow minded readers that we must do something to change how we are perceived by the media and society as a whole.
My view of the current administration is having done nothing so far to perpetuate the American ideals however, that is still no excuse to resort to assassination attempts nor to go off on killing tangents. We have at our disposal methods for which we can deal with this inconsistencies in a civil manner. Violence at this point in time has no purpose in our goals.
Thank you, Joe

I appologize for the multiple responses on here. Triond kept saying something was wrong and it needed to be corrected. Little did I realize each time was actually taking.
