President Assad said the military and police operations were arrested,” the statement added.According to estimates, the government repression have left at least 2,000 civilians killed since the protests began five months ago.Envoys said they also hoped that the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, suggest that the repression in Syria should be investigated by the International Criminal Court (ICC).The developments are part of a series of diplomatic maneuvers that seek to increase pressure on Assad to cease the repression against the demonstrators.
