Attack on School Children
The worst thing to happen in this world.
While watching CNN news channel today, the news shocked me most was “Attack in a school in Germany by a teenage student of the same school. 9 children got hurt”. I was really disturbed, as this is becoming frequent news all over the world. This is the second time I’m hearing about an attack in Germany school within a short span. As a mother I’m really getting panicked to send my son to school, however good it is.
In olden days, school was considered as one of the safest place. During Vedic period, in India, the relationship between a student and teacher was considered as a holy one. Parents used to send their children to Gurukul (school) and allow them to stay with their Guru (teacher) till end of their studies. The friends of school days used to remain the best till end of life.
But know what is happening? The relation between a student and teacher is just for a namesake. I know few incidents where teachers reduced internal marks of students whom they don’t like and students who beat teachers outside the campus just because he punished him in the class for some reasons. Above all this, now even young children started taking weapons in their hand and hurt their co-students, who are innocent. What a poor tender baby can do when attacked by such deadly weapons?

Great point about the pocket money. Many of the parents who do this, often believe that the money will make up for the time they are not spending with their children. Great post.

School shootings have become common in US. Then you have shootings in Colleges (i remember listening to a news in US about a korean boy going on shooting spree in Virginia university killing many innocent ppl. There were many Indian PG students there. that was way back in 2007)
There could be many reasons for this outrageous and uncontrollable behaviour by children … some of them being
1) too much private space to the child– the parents don’t get to know what the child is watching online , or on tv or what kind of a violent video game is he/she playing which may abet a real encounter
2) tv violence
3) angry parents…children learn to be impatient, intolerant in their own home.
4) easy access to guns!
5) physical abuses which cause distress in children…
and the list goes on… we as parents have tough days ahead!
