Beating a Child

Avoiding hitting children.

Do you beat kids because they are unresponsive or do something wrong? The best thing to do is to question what the problem is and see if you can solve the issue so that you do not use violence in order to get kids to do what you want.Applying corporal punishment is not the final answer and should never be considered as an alternative. It is usually a good sign that the parent had the same so it is a good idea not to apply the treatment as this will likely create resentment or problems listening to authority later on.

I should add that when physical punishment was applied to certain slow learners or left handed students, the students later developed a learning block or became over anxious because of the treatment. It was difficult for the student not to react emotionally whenever he came into contact with a teacher as that would remind him of previous experiences. The same can be said for the person who has to face his parents especially when he knows that a misdemeanor means that he will be slapped or physically beaten.

While I agree with you wntirely, we first must separate beating from spanking. There is a difference and to give a swat on the butt is an indication of wrong doing and needed adjustment. To beat is immoral, illegal and deserving of a beating themselves. You expressed your self clearly, I just wish you expanded on that a bit, but otherwise a very good read. Michael

You are entitled to your opinion but any physical approach, spanking, slapping, beating, whipping is completed uncalled for. There are other ways to deal with the wrong doing which are more positive such as keeping a desired object until the child behaves. The article was kept short to be unspecific; I did not want to use any particular example.
