Beer and Underage Drinking
The drinking age should remain at eighteen.
I have a number of reasons for this. The first reason is that Mr. Burke told me to. But more importantly the second reason is that to tell the truth the drinking age is fair if not too strict. If I asked for everyone in this room right now who drinks to put up their hand nobody would. Am I right? But imagine if the teacher left I think there would be a much different result. Fact is people drink, it may not be the right thing to do but it happens.
Yes it has to be said that alcohol is a large problem in today’s society, you constantly hear of teenagers getting in trouble for, shall I say, rowdy behaviour. Old Mary down the road is constantly talking about little Johnny and how much of a nuisance he is and how she sees him drinking around the corner from young Benny’s house. Alcohol is affecting the minds of todays youth with pocket money that should be saved for a new game for Playstation or X-Box or even a book is thrown away on a wasted life.
“Beer the cause and solution to all of lifes problems”, A quote from the ever popular Homer Simpson. Is it true? Partially is the answer to that. The cause of many of lifes biggest problems these problems even include death. In the year 2000 in Great Britan over 560 road deaths were caused by alcohol levels of drivers being more then the legal limit. Here beer is the cause, but how could beer possibly be a solution? It cant! I wont say this very often but Homer Simpson was wrong!
Many people start drinking too young and at an older age cannot stop so if the legal age is reduced would this work? It might. In Italy it is perfectly acceptable for a fourteen year old to drink wine while enjoying a meal with his/her family and as a result drinking is not a big problem. Sure they have the Mafia but at least theres no drinking problems with the children. So if that is the case would increasing the drinking age solve this problem or just make it worse?
Now onto my final point. Would you rather be sitting at home in front of the T.V. in a nice warm radiated room with a pizza from Four Star or standing outside in the cold and wet with a can of cheap beer and a black eye? To me the answer is fairly obvious. For those who its not I think a visit to the doctor is well needed.
I would like to thank you all for your attention and courtesy.

I am 18 and dont see why it is illegal for me to drink. Its not gunna hurt anything and I wouldnt half to ask strangers to buy it for me if it was legal..3rd of all beer shouldnt be considered as alchohol even though it has some in it. It is a light drink and an enjoyable one.. I love to have a few beers after i come home from a long days work. Why cant it be legal? I mean I pay taxes and am independant citizen so why shouldnt I have full rights? I think they should reduce the drinking age from 21 to 18 maby even 16 with parental permission and supervision.Just my oppinion,
