On the insane price of oil.
A new record has been set, the record for how much the oil companies can squeeze out of the motorist, the tourist and the hauler.
On the 7th June 2008 the price of oil hit over $138 a barrel it was reported. Why? Is it not a buyers market? Oil has been the major commodity in the world for so long now that we are relying on it. We need it for our fuel because no company has produced an engine that can run to the same speeds that the performance cars do now. That should not be a concern but it is, the human predilection for speed is what is driving the cost of fuel and oil up. If our scientific community could produce a high efficiency battery we would be set. But no one will buy a car that will only travel at 70 mph with your foot down.
However we must remember that the speed limit in the UK is 70mph on the motorways, America is 80mph but in most states it is lower, most of Europe has a limit of 75mph, even the world famous Autobahn has a speed limit guide of 81mph.
If this is so why do we need super fast cars?
With Oil running out fast around the world and scientists claiming that we only have around 5-10 years of the fuel left on the planet we can only expect the price to go up higher as the years go by, couple this with the worlds governments adding extortionate amounts of tax onto the cost we are faced with a very serious problem. The state of public transport around the world makes it a problem for many employed people to get to work on time.
What is the answer?
The only real answer for now is a choice, either you earn more money to pay for the high costs, or you convert your car to LPG or auto gas. Many cars around the world are already running on duel fuel and at around 60p a litre it is a very viable option.
All the time governments are greedy and oil rich countries want to better themselves we will be squeezed to pay more for the luxury of driving, can we afford to keep consuming oil at the rate we currently are? In a word NO, the supply is low and no company is ready to release a commercially competitive alternative to oil or gas. However by the time the oil has run out it wont matter as most of the worlds car owners would have gone to walking, cycling or working from home as Mr & Mrs Joe Public wont be able to keep up with the rising cost of driving.
We need to do something now before it is too late. We need to seriously think about new technologies to get us around, and just to try and spur the inventors reading this, the woman or man that does come up with the solution to the hydrocarbon fuelled vehicle will be very, very rich.

Well said old boy, apart from the fact that you have to take your life in your own hands if you decide to cycle. And walking is such a pain! I would like to have an LPG car,but it’s so expensive to convert! And a new LPG is expensive, far too expensive for me anyway!
What shall we do?
