Blast Outside Delhi High Court Kills at Least 11 and Injures 61 Peoples

At least 11 people died on Wednesday after a bomb exploded in a briefcase in the High Court of Delhi, India’s interior minister said parliament.

Page Interior Minister said 76 people were injured.

It was the second explosion outside the court complex in four months.

The explosion occurred on a day particularly active in court. Wednesdays are considered “public interest litigation” days, when many members of the public able to bring cases before the judge. The case was brought before the gate 5, used by litigants and lawyers.

Officials fear the death toll is rising.

“What we gathered from surveys of air is that it is an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) in the ammonium nitrate. We are working with the Delhi police for details,” said Director General National Security Guard Rajen Medhekar reporters.

No one immediate responsibility for the attack.

The explosion occurred at 10:15, after the court opened shortly before the cases start in the rule.

“Delhi is a target of terrorist groups. When Parliament is in session, and at certain times of the rest of the year, Delhi is on high alert,” said Interior Minister P. Chidambaram Parliament.

Despite the ongoing work between police and intelligence services, said Chidambaram, “at this stage it is not possible, the group that caused the explosion of a bomb today to identify.”
