Boeing or Airbus? Which Airplane Model Do You Like?
Which aircraft is the best? Today I will look at the Boeing 777-300 and the Airbus A380-800.
Intro
There are two major airplane makers in today’s society Boeing and Airbus. Boeing has been around since 1916 while Airbus was founded in 1970. Both airline have made an impact on our society with new airplanes that can go faster, seat more people, and more cargo space. I want to be a pilot one day so the specifications are very important.
Boeing 777-300
The Boeing 777-300 is a long range two engine jet airliner that was made by Boeing. The cost for one of these aircraft’s is around 200-260 million dollars. It features a maximum capacity of 550 people over three classes and a length of 242 feet. The maximum cruising speed for this aircraft is 590 mph at 35000 feet. With a fuel capacity of 45220 gallons, the Boeing 777-300 has around 16000 gallons more than the 777-200 which was the previous model.
Airbus A380-800
The Airbus A380-800 is a wide body two engine jet airliner that was made by Airbus. The cost of one aircraft is 346 million dollars. This is roughly 100 million dollars more than the Boeing 777-300. It features a maximum capacity of 520 people over two classes and a length of 238 feet. The maximum cruising speed for this aircraft is 634 mph which is 44 miles per hour faster than the Boeing 777-300. With a fuel capacity of 85472 gallons this is nearly double than the Boeing counterpart.
Conclusion
Boeing has a cheaper aircraft by 100 million dollars, 30 more seats in capacity, just about equal in length, slower cruising speed by 44 miles, and about two times less in fuel capacity. If I was the head of an airline (let’s say American Airlines) I would pick Boeing because of how similar the two aircraft’s are and the cheaper cost of buying an aircraft. Boeing has generally been one step ahead of Airbus so we will see if Airbus produces a better aircraft.
