Bottled Water

The effect of bottled water on the environment.

Bottled water and the environment

Bottled water plays a big part on the environment. Everything made out of plastic contributes. If plastic damages the environment so much then why aren’t we getting rid of the plastic we don’t need. One example is bottled water.

Our water supply is one of the cleanest and safest in the world. So clean in fact that we can drink out of our taps and not know any different besides the taste. What makes humans so addicted to bottled water? Is it really that good? Up to 80% of all the bottles end up in landfill and many drift into the sea. There is also the fact that melting plastic is poisonous to our body. Why then do we still drink it?

The price of bottled water is also extremely high. It cost two times more than petrol and about 1000 times more than tap water. Why we spend any money at all on the stuff is simply ridiculous. Also for those people who believe what they are drinking is purer than tap water, research has found that some bottled water is simply tap water filtered. Why pay so much for filtered tap water?

Buying bottled water is simply idiotic. The only way it could be useful is the fact it is so easy to obtain. It sells everywhere and with that tonnes of CO2 are pumped into our atmosphere. What is the point of it all? Tap water is so much better and cheaper. The world should make the switch.
