Iams is a company that distributes dog and cat food and also supplies. This company that was founded by Paul Iams in 1946 in a small feed near Dayton, Ohio. There are lots of foods and supplies for dogs and cats of all ages and types. Some includes Iams all natural, Iams digestive care, Iams biscuits, savory sauce and many more. This brand is approved by veterinarians and is the number one selling dog food in America.

What are Boycotters Trying to Achieve?

Iams is pure science and it is amazing but there is suffering that occurs behind the science. Iams participates in lab experiments on hundreds of animals that cause obesity, kidney failure, malnutrition, liver damage, diarrhea, skin disorders, lesions and illness. Dogs have had body parts taken out like their voice box so they don’t bark, and muscles from their thighs. After being discovered Iams passed a research policy that claims that they will not harm or kill cats and dogs. In March 2003 after 10 months of investigating by the PETA, They noticed that Iams is still doing what they have done in the past.

Boycotters are looking for ways to get rid of the animal cruelty or shut down their company by driving them out of business. It is ok to test on animals but there reaches a point that it is wrong. The boycotters are saying that Iams should stops the killing of animals and make them more comfortable. Ways of doing so is using painkillers after an experiment and adding softer flooring, they could also provide some toys. They can find a way to make experiments go better. What are the Boycotters Doing?

The boycotters are spreading out the word of not buying Iams products. Online is a means of spreading out information, like the Iams cruelty website. Some people are contacting local animal societies and informing them of the status quo of the Iams Company. Their method is simple: Don’t buy Iams products. There are other companies that don’t experiment on animals cruelty and provides quality food for pets. Some includes Alpo, maximum nutrition, pedigree and Purina. There are also forums that discuss this topic also lots of websites set up for this topic. Already people have sent thousands of E-mails and calls to Iams to show that they are angry about the cruelty. The Boycotter’s plan for the future is to make sure that Iams is experimenting safely or the company is closed down.

Chance to Succeed

The boycotters will succeed as I feel. There are many accusations against Iams and much evidence that prove them guilty. The company will be more and more recognized for their crime and more and more people will despise them. Soon their sale stocks will be low and they will be forced to quit their business. There are already a number of people that are passing along “the secret behind the science” of Iams. In a few years most dog and cat owner will have gotten a note not to use Iams products. So I think it will work. I am thinking there is an 80 percent chance that this will work, but the problem is it’s not advertised that well. But soon it will become spread out. Iams will be forced to chose either a better way to experiment on animals or a drop in their business will occur and quite possible a damnation of their domain.
