Caste System in India : is This Essential in Today’s Date for Students?

Caste system in india.

What is a Caste in India? Caste is a factor in the politics of India. The Indian caste system is a system of social stratification and social restriction in India in which communities are defined by thousands of endogamous hereditary groups called Jaatis (From wikipedia)

ST , SC , OBC – These are the main castes in India ; In short quotas for the students belonging to those caste in terms of education and jobs. But this was  essential in the 50s. But in today’s date this system sholud be modified.  The Indian constitution was constructed long back in 1950. The economic status of these castes were very low. So a reservation was needed. But today a student is not judged by his merit, but by his caste. A average student belonging to no caste is valueless. A general caste student must be brilliant while a student belonging to caste gets a job or seat securing much less marks- A big Hammer on the head of the general students. It is justified if a student belongs to caste is financially weak. But if he owns a Bike, 3g cellphone, latest gadjets ; then is there any justification giving him a quota against a student belonging to general caste whose annual family income is under 1lacs.

Today the youth of India shouts many slogans- but today this system should be modified. Justification is needed for the hard works of a general student studying under the kerosine lamps. The quotas should be filled by financially weak students not by quota. That is why the knowledge of Indian students is under-estmated day by day. The whole system should be modified soon; otherwise the education system of India will fall surely in the near future.

I am speaking about this today, tomorrow a million general students will die for not getting the appropiate reward for his hardworks.

I am placing a term against a true student- How can you guys bear the grief of your best friend commiting suicide for not securing seats in the top institutions? If you and your friend secures the same marks in the exam and your friend is disqualified and you are selected because you were a ST or SC or OBC student. Can you face the mirror and say sorry friend, it’s competition where my caste wins not me ?
