Causes and Effects of Bullying
What we can do to prevent bullying in school and in our society.
It really irks me to hear when a kid at school is mean to other kids. I’m far from a perfect parent, but I can guarantee that my kids would never be a punk to another kid. They are so much better than that. And that is what makes me a proud parent.
Recently there’s been much increased awareness of bullying in schools and whilst it may appear that bullying is on the increase, I suspect there’s been little change in the amount of bullying that goes on in school. It seems that children bully for a variety of reasons and when dealing with child bullying it’s essential to identify who is the bully at the centre of the violence.Perhaps more than any other school safety problem, bullying affects students’ sense of security, and most students do not report bullying to adults.Children who are bullied often experience low self-esteem and depression, bullies will do numerous things to make you cry or be hurt. They can damage your life, and make you feel like you wish you were dead. They can do things that you will remember for the rest of you life.
I think children bully in schools because they may see it as a way of being popular, or making themselves look tough and in charge. Some bullies do it to get attention or things, or to make other people afraid of them. Others might be jealous of the person they are bullying.Bullies use intimidation to attract friends who are easily influenced and agree with the bully so they don’t become the target. Bullies bully because they don’t want to know of any other behaviour. They are insecure about themselves so have a weakness of their own therefore dumping it onto others.
parents should watch their child and ask how there day has been or how has school been to them on a regularly basis. They should also go out to the school and check on their grades themselves and ask the teachers and principals how their child has been doing at school. It’s important to take bullying seriously and not just brush it off as something that kids have to tough out.bullying has contributed to tragedies, such as school shootings.Reassure your child, listen to them and take what they are saying seriously.
