Children Having Babies

I read an article a few days ago about a 13 year old boy named Alfie Patton who just had a baby with his 15 year old girlfriend! I am dumbfounded that children are having babies. Can you imagine being 13 or even 15 and having that responsibility? I know that I was definitely not ready or mature enough at that age.

Where do you put the blame? Children are exposed to so much at a young age anymore. So is it society? Fourty to Fifty years ago this was not such a big issue. I don’t think paying enough attention, we are always busy trying to keep are families afloat. Nowadays both parents have to work to feed and support a family.
Fifty years ago there usually was a parent at home not working.

I’m convinced that with that one parent being at home, it kept children out of trouble for the most part. I have two children, not yet teenagers.  I am at home until about six p.m. during the week then my husband takes over while I go to school at night. I work ten hours a week also and my husband is with them during that time too. I am extremely nervous about my kids teenage years.  My plan is to only work until three in the afternoon so I am home when they are out of school. This way my children won’t be on such a long leash and I can keep an eye on what they are doing. I know it’s impossible to know what kids are doing 24/7, but I can at least try my hardest to keep them on the right path.

I think it’s really sad that most families have no choice anymore but for both parents to work. I fear these issues are only going to get worse as years pass. There is so much exposure to sex that our children are bound to come across it one way or the other. All we can do is pray to be good parents and do our best in raising our children.
