Children on the Street

When I think of the times we live in today
Of all the hardships that have come our way
All the little children begging on the street
Without proper clothing and no shoes on their feet
To see the hardness in their eyes, the blank stare
And knowing their lives are going nowhere
It breaks my heart to see them standing there
Having to beg, steal and lie
Just to survive
It angers me to know that others have plenty
Some boast about their treasures of many
While others cry out in pain and hunger
The ones with the most think their in no danger
But when they stand before Him
Without proper clothing and no shoes on their feet
Only then will they have compassion
For the children on the street
