These days Internet is full of news and videos about Choking games, it seems to be one of the hottest trends between youth. Both guys and girls seems to enjoy risking their lives choking themselves, or being choked by someone else, and then send their videos throughout the web. Most of the times everything goes well, but sometimes, being a dangerous hobby, someone dies or gets permanently disabled by the loss of oxygen in the brain.
What’s going wrong with young people these days?
We have all being young, and so we all know that sometimes youth do very stupid things, feeling somehow immortals and that nothing can hurt them. I did, you did, and probably almost everyone did something stupid or risky when young. But choking games are something completely different, they risk their lives to be seen on the web as cool. And, this is a great difference, both males and females put themselves at danger.
What are some reasons for Choking Games?
There are surely many, but these three in my opinion are the biggest ones.
Kids have been raised by TV or Video Games.
Being raised without parents, who now usually are obliged by life to work both outside home, and without grandparents to take care of them, they grow up watching TV or playing Video Games most of the time, growing up with a distorted view about life, values (do they still know the meaning of this word?) and what’s really important.
Kids have no dreams. They have no strong desire to achieve something important for them. They seem to just follow the trend of the moment about their own achievement, and they are just not much interested about anything, beside being popular, or trendy.
Kids don’t care about their own life. They begin drinking and using drugs very soon, sometimes like in Italy around 12 yo. They have behaviours like Choking Games and the only important things seems to be on YouTube. And usually after a question like: “Don’t you care about your life?” the answer is usually something like “Not very much” or “Not at all”. Probably they think to live in a kind of Video Game.
The real question though to all this is simply one: when these things happen, where are their parents?
Or, if you are a parent, do you know for real what’s going on in your child head? Do you know him or her truly?
Can you protect him or her from Self Harm behaviors like Choking Games?

Thanks for the brave article on a subject most people probably don’t want to hear/talk about and need to! You are getting the word out and never know who you may reach and change, the work of a good healer and “hypnodude,” nice job!
