Rough Draft: Criminal Justice and the Professions they entail

          Let us ask ourselves have we ever considered a career in the Criminal Justice field? Have we ever wanted to work in an exciting and fast paste and always changing environment? Well even if you have not given this career choice any thought, this paper is going to perhaps change your perspective of the Criminal Justice field entirely. The purpose of this paper is to give the reader some insight and to spark an interest into anyone of the many fields or professions that can come from the study of Criminal Justice. Now as the writer if this paper I will even go as far as to agree and disagree with how so many people have perhaps stated that there are many flaws in law or in the judicial system, but the good thing about this career path is that as a student of the criminal justice program will not only get knowledge in the area of law, but also in physiology, psychology, and philosophy. Let us get ready to pack some note writing paper and writing instruments and get ready to take a journey into this amazing career field and course of study.

          Field number one and safe to say the most common field is Law Enforcement.

Law enforcement or what they are most often called, Police Officers, have a job of extreme excitement some days are slower than others, but that is what is so great about law enforcement and even maintaining a criminal justice degree. Every day on the job is a new experience, yes some days will have routine situations, but then there are other moments that can get your adrenaline pumping.  Police officers have a bit more of a dangerous job than that of some of the other professions you can find, but some may say that this is what makes them the best, because of the hard work and courageous places of danger that these Officers find themselves in on a daily bases.

          The second field is security. Now like police officers, a security officer has a dangerous job as well, but not has dangerous as police officers in some cases. Security officers usually work side by side police officers and even medical personnel, such as EMTs, and or firefighters, because of this a security officer is also known as a “first responder”  This can be found in the (Limmer O’Keefe Emergency Care course book 11th edition). In EMT courses they teach this term to their candidates. That would mean that a first responder is familiar with an AED or an (artificial emergency device). They are also trained in CPR and in a few EMT medical technics. There are different stages or license that you have to test for to gain certain freedoms when it comes to security. Level two guards or what any security department or organization would call these guards noncommissioned officers. Now what this means is that these officers are at the bottom of the chain as opposed to those that have tested out for a level 3 licenses or what they are most commonly known as commissioned licensed security officers.
