Custom and Tradition
Why Customs and Tradition is important in the Polity.
Customs and Tradition are treated as obsolete and outdated by the Modernity. But what makes this customs and tradition exists and sustainability even though there is an erosion of the social system. This is a very interesting to evaluate to find out the significance of Social Customs and Tradition.
Custom and Tradition are the social norms which govern the society at the micro level. These norms are accepted by the people historically and the following these norms makes its sustainable.
A most debated issue of the present Indian society is the Caste System. Caste System is a guild towards the maintaining the Economy balance. Every community was responsibly towards the communal growth and was built by the intact caste. These castes were not only had the economical relations but also the social aspect. A rigidity in the following the social rituals i.e. marriage within the caste was very important. Since this made a smooth sailing of Economical growth. The family occupation was responsible for the rendering the experience and expertise towards the technical or occupational legacy. This was an indigenous institution for vocation.
Custom and traditions built Social structure and generates socialization. This creates a social bond which is further responsible for the intact society. An intact society hold a confirmed sustainability since the virtues of the Society is regularly enhanced. This enhancement is done through various Research and Development and Community Participation. When anything gets into the Community participation, then it reduces exploitation.
An exploit less society does not have security crisis. This makes it a Main Stream Society. A Main Stream Society is different from Para-community. Since main-stream Society is governed by the Customs and Tradition and its members are Family and Organized Economy, where as para-community is governed by manipulation. Such para-community does not have stability and lack security to its own community member. The members of the para-communities are anti-social people who do not follow social norms and hence a shattered economy.
There is a great significance of Customs and Traditions in the Polity since it is responsible for the Micro Governance. Any Law which is framed is an extension of the Customs i.e. Norms of the Society since norms are already accepted facts and Law authenticate them in the State Governance. This makes the smooth sailing in the Social Governance.
In the absence of Customs and Tradition in the wake of Modernity is a sign of erosion of family system. This is also further erasing the distinction between the Main Stream Society and Para-community. Hence, it will give further challenge the Family System and is responsible for breaking of marriage. Breaking of marriages created a shattered society, and shattered society builds criminal which is further threat to human life.

Sharmila though I agree with you on most of the points you have mentioned in your article. However, I differ on some. It is true that the caste system is good for economic growth; but for communal growth cast system might not be conducive.
Interbreeding within a community can create genetic defects in children. Parsi community is the living example. If people of different community interbreed, then the lower community serves as a stock for higher community.
If Brahmin men marry a Vaishya or Kshatriya woman, then Brahmin men would be the scion; and Vaishya or Kshatriya women would be the stock. In the same way Vaishya must seek alliance with the community of lower stock.
As in growing roses we have to graft it on a stock of wild roses in the same way we can produce better species through interbreeding in a similar way. Due to interbreeding within the same community the Indian cultural development has suffered.

Here Communal Growth is not marriage system.. Since caste relates to guild of occupation.. so the communal growth mean the growth of the occupation i.e. Research and Development of the particular occupation, which is shared thru experice and inheritance.. This creates expertise.
