Dictators are Not That Bad After All

A nation is said to be under the rule of dictatorship if only one person in the country commands the entire population. The best examples of such rulers would be Adolf Hitler, Mussolini, Saddam Hussein, Pervez Musharraf, Idi Amin etc, to mention a few. Though they are seen as tyrant rulers, there are many positive developments their country has seen under their reigns, until things took a wrong turn. We cam learn a lot from these great personalities.

1. Misrepresentations:

In earlier days, kings used to rule their country peacefully, though occasionally executing wars and battles against the invaders or in the interest to expand their territories. Since the concept of democracy has been force-fed into our novel society, such king-ruling nations are seen with a different perspective, and are given names or tyranny, dictatorship, etc. Had Alexander been living in today’s world, he would have been termed the universal dictator, as he covered the Eurasian landmass and northern Europe! Just because we like some concept, all other concepts that do not abide are not wrong!

2. Highly Focused:

Turn the annals of history and it takes lots of courage and determination to lead a nation. So, not everyone can become the dictator of any country. Only the most determined and highly focused person can reach to the topmost level of a country. So, learning of the toils and hurdles they have come across gives greater motivation and makes common man’s lives appear to be easier.

3. Know What They Want And Get It:

They are epitomes of goal-setting and working towards their intended goals. They will have the ‘never say die’ attitude and will not rest until they achieve the results. So, everyone needs to identify their goals for life and work on the short-term steps to be successful. Millions of politicians come and leave, but the dictators stay in the books of history permanently for both the right and wrong reasons.

4. Self-Image:

They have huge amount of self-confidence and courage to achieve their goals. They would not stop for anything less than what they have ordered for. Though it would appear to be pain for others, personality development and leadership is all about getting the best from oneself and others around us. So, these are great leaders.

5. Unity:

They ensure that their nation works as one single unit. They would go to any extent to retain unity in their wards. This could mean beheading those who question against the government or those who spread bad breath against the rulers. This is weeding, as they call, because they know that the chain is just as strong as its weakest link. So, eliminate the weakest link and build a strong team. This is done in corporations in the name of cost cutting and performance reviews, but is never termed as dictatorship! :)

6. Disciplined Citizens:

Citizens know their duties and rights because the dictators are good in addressing the public and communicating with the commons in letting them know what is expected from them. They also share their vision for the nation and people are aware what to do to lead a peaceful life.

Yeah that’s right. What makes them bad is greed for power. But what they do has a good thing for the nation.

A dictator might give a nation the appearance to outsiders of being unified, but this is at the cost of countless deaths through the murder of any internal opponents – not just the politically active but also those who had the misfortune to be caught saying something less than totally supportive of the regime. How many millions have the dictators you listed at the start of your article killed?

Countless people Bruce. After all this is just a way of population control. Jokes apart, I never support killing or homicide of any kind, however reasonable it may sound. Just tried to extract the silver-line from these dark entities :)

Many good points made, certain problems need a dictator at times.
When the fire breaks we need to douse it with water immediately.

Well said wonder, in war-front or emergency situations, people cannot sit in boardrooms brainstorming. One has to take authority and make decisions fast.

    Thanks a lot friends

I understand what you’re trying to point out in this article. It’s actually extracting the brightness from the dark side. I agree, Philippines had a dictator too. By the way i like to thank you for commenting on my article written in Filipino even if you can’t understand it. I have made the translation.

Dictators have a different style of leadership. Some want what is best for their country.
