Dictators are Not That Bad After All
A nation is said to be under the rule of dictatorship if only one person in the country commands the entire population. The best examples of such rulers would be Adolf Hitler, Mussolini, Saddam Hussein, Pervez Musharraf, Idi Amin etc, to mention a few. Though they are seen as tyrant rulers, there are many positive developments their country has seen under their reigns, until things took a wrong turn. We cam learn a lot from these great personalities.
7. Peace in Nation:
The dictators are great in maintaining peace in the nation and making the whole nation appear to be one single machine working towards a singular objective. Since most of them are from military background, marching their nation towards success is their prime objective. One man, Saddam Hussein, could hold Iraq peacefully and could keep its citizens disciplined for many decades (though there were pockets of fury, which is there in any country, even in democratic countries), whereas the forces from many nations – US, UK, NATO, UN, etc with the support of Iraqi government – could not maintain peace for even one day for almost a decade.
8. Economic Growth:
Adolf Hitler is regarded as the greatest villain. Without Hitler’s leadership, Germany could not have flourished as an economic superpower within a decade after World War I. One classic example of his economic reforms was his dream to enable cars to be available at cheaper rates even for commons, which bas brought about the cheapest brand of cars in last century – Volkswagen meaning the “people’s car” – which is a grand success till today (though the prices match up with other brands now!) Germany’s science and technology and other industries saw a new dawn during his command.
9. Political Stability:
We all know what politics can bring about to any nation. With the dictators around, it is evident that the politicians are kept at bay from ruining people’s lives, and they are kept well in control. So, there is higher possibility of political stability. So, social and political leaders of today should take lessons of working for the good of the nation and not their own families and bank accounts.
10. Beware What You Wish For:
Though there are many advantages, the biggest problem with dictators is that they get too carried away with their success. They misplace interests and try to achieve huge things and push their nation to near deaths to satiate their egos. So, another lesson is to be aware of what we wish for, and become ready to receive the results.
Disclaimer: Am neither for dictatorship nor for democracy loaded with selfish corrupt politicians (both are equally evil). Am for those leaders who put the country in front of their own demands. Dictators have often done that!

Yeah that’s right. What makes them bad is greed for power. But what they do has a good thing for the nation.

A dictator might give a nation the appearance to outsiders of being unified, but this is at the cost of countless deaths through the murder of any internal opponents – not just the politically active but also those who had the misfortune to be caught saying something less than totally supportive of the regime. How many millions have the dictators you listed at the start of your article killed?

Countless people Bruce. After all this is just a way of population control. Jokes apart, I never support killing or homicide of any kind, however reasonable it may sound. Just tried to extract the silver-line from these dark entities

Many good points made, certain problems need a dictator at times.
When the fire breaks we need to douse it with water immediately.

Well said wonder, in war-front or emergency situations, people cannot sit in boardrooms brainstorming. One has to take authority and make decisions fast.
Thanks a lot friends

I understand what you’re trying to point out in this article. It’s actually extracting the brightness from the dark side. I agree, Philippines had a dictator too. By the way i like to thank you for commenting on my article written in Filipino even if you can’t understand it. I have made the translation.

Dictators have a different style of leadership. Some want what is best for their country.
