Discrimination Against Smokers

Discrimination has taken a new low blow to smokers in the USA. Everywhere I go and most stations I listen to has some discriminating thing to say against the people who smoke cigarettes, has anyone noticed this?

Listening to an on-line Christmas station I was disgusted when during one of their annoying commercial interludes they told of a computer company who was called to someones home to fix their computer, obviously they advertise home repairs; but upon arrival decided it was a health hazard to fix the computer due to smokers living in the home. The owners needing their computer fixed were forced to take the ailing machine out to be fixed and the company refused saying the machine was a “Bio-hazard” due to smokers usage while smoking.

I am appalled at this attitude! I have heard so much crap about cigarettes and second hand smoke I could scream. I was born with Bronchitis and at the age of thirteen diagnosed with Asthma. I did not live in a smoker’s home, contrary to doctors thinking me a liar. (The doctors didn’t grow up in my home, nor did they know my family), I grew up in Los Angeles around the Smog and crap the Industries put into our air. I’d said it before and I will say it again right here; if people want the true culprit of lung and heart problems stopped, stop the idiots with the big money that owns the big smog polutting factories and corporations! While everyone is falsely accusing and blaming the smokers for all their ills in lung and heart problems the real offenders are laughing their asses off all the way to the bank.

I recently worked in a factory where the people that are suppose to be keeping tabs on the pollutant count are being paid to change numbers to make it appear that all is well, so don’t tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about. The low man or woman on the pay scale has little enough for personal comfort, now cigarettes are outrageously priced and I know that tax money isn’t going anywhere but into some-body’s pocket making them richer while other’s suffer. I sick of the discrimination’s. Maybe it doesn’t smell good but try staying out of heavy smog filled areas for a month or two then drive back and tell me what you taste, smell and feel! I’ll tell you what it was like for me; the smell was putrid and thick with foulness. The taste was gritty and putrid as well and my eyes stung and burned. My chest began to ache because I was coughing so bad the closer I got to the Los Angeles area after being gone for a bit.

Some people are allergic to smoke, I smoke and it’s a very nasty habit. When I smell strong nicotine on someones clothes, it makes me sick. I guess I can understand why they didn’t want to fix the computer.

I am a light smoker now; there was a time when I’d go through two and a half packs a day. Today I go through one or less but it’s one thing to not like the smell of something but if someone pulled that on me I’d sue them out of principle alone; and I don’t believe in law suits. Do we condone doctors not treating someone because they have an infectus something or other? No, put on a mask and earn your money; it’s your job! Yes there are those that are genuinly alergic; others just say they are because they don’t like the smell but don’t want to argue with people over it. I don’t argue I just walk away from people I can’t stand to be around; I don’t lie just to get my way in things involvig others; or deliberately try to make others feel bad for me like so many others are in the bad habit of doing. On the adiction scale of 1 through 10 with 10 being the worse; out of all of the possible addictions cigarettes ranks 1 in being the least over all harnful. Smoking cigarettes doesn’t impare your vision and brain like alcohol or drugs do. It may create long term affects but then so does the additives in our foods and drinks, the chemicals polutting our air we breath from factories in and around us and new studies are out to prove some of the clothing we wear can even be dangerous to our health in the long run. So then what? Do we starve, dehydrate, and sit naked waiting for death? I won’t do that; lol.

Discrimination against smokers is just as bad as discrimination against any other group…
