Discrimination

All about discrimination.

Discrimination is a disease in every society that is hard to eliminate. It comes in whatever form. Racial discrimination is one of them. And it’s not only based on color but in almost everything that makes you different from others.

We Filipino have it. It’s really amusing to know that we, the race who are known to be hospitable and nice are not at all what we say see we are.

People who came from provinces and whose diction are quite different from ours are regarded as of lesser class. The worst part is we do it the traitor’s way. We befriended them then when they are not around we talk about how ridiculous they handle themselves and how funny they speak our language.

Sometimes it crosses my mind that we, the Filipinos are the most Double Standard people in the world. We set up different standards for different kind of people depending on what kind of family they came. If they came from rich family we kind of tolerate everything they do and would even find it cute. But if not, we would say “She/He doesn’t have the right to do this”. It’s a shame to say this but we unwarily do these things.

There was an instant where the news in the entertainment part of the newspaper was all about a certain popular woman who is now dating another rich guy. I commented about it saying she is such a bad girl (I was using the other term that time). Its okay, she is beautiful anyway so she got the right, is the answer I got from them. I was taken aback I never knew we Filipinos could tolerate those immoralities as long as the one doing it is beautiful and rich.

Above is just an example, but still it affects the reality we are in. I just hope that as time goes by things like this would be reconsidered and our values reevaluated. Because for sure we don’t want our societies to be like that. Full of people who really don’t know the value of each individual no matter whom she/he is.
