Do Brands Mean Everything?

Are designers worth it?

Many of young people nowadays think that ‘Designer is everything’ in this article I will be discussing if it is really worth all the money.

G-Star-Raw; You see a lot of normal people wearing g-star clothing. In my eyes, I don’t see the point; the money you pay is purely for the label. What is the big deal with it anyway? You could get 2 pairs of nice jeans from River Island, for the price you pay to get just one pair of ‘legendary’ G-Star jeans.

A few years back I can remember watching a programme on television, showing the same kind of views I am. They did an experiment with two pairs of jeans, a Calvin Klein pair worth over £100, and a standard pair worth £5. They put these jeans through all sorts of processes to wreck them. At the end of the destroying process, they put the jeans in a shop window, and asked members of the public which pair of jeans they thought cost the most. Almost everybody asked said that the £5 pair of jeans cost the most because they had kept in better condition. Thanks to this experiment, it just goes to show that paying lots of money for things doesn’t necessarily mean that they are good quality. You pay so much on the label, you don’t even think about how long they are going to last.

So, is designer really all it stands up to be?
