Do Nuclear Explosions Destroy Souls?

If the human soul is a measurable form of energy, then would the extremity of destructive power at the chaotic heart of a thermonuclear blast be sufficient to completely scramble and thus eradicate that energy?

Is The Human Soul a Form of Energy?

Could it be perhaps something like a matrix of subatomic particles electromagnetically suspended in and around our bodies until death releases it? If so, these particles are likely what is seen in aura photography. Aura photographers claim the aura is an electromagnetic energy field that radiates from the body, and it certainly does have that appearance in these types of photographs.

Something Measurable Exits The Body

It is further interesting to note, that research done, measuring patients on their death beds, revealed a reduction of body weight by a very small fraction. That weight reduction was more than the weight of air volume expelled from the newly dead persons lungs, which was so negligible as to not be measurable. Morbid though this research may have been, it does hint that something measurable other than air or natural body fluids really does exit the body after death. This research was conducted in 1907 by one Dr. Duncan MacDougall, as confirmed to be more than mere urban legend by Snopes.com.

More Research Should Be Done

While, Dr. MacDougall’s methodology may have been crude by today’s standards, he did show some interesting results with weight loss running from three quarters of an ounce to one and a quarter of an ounce, thus averaging about an ounce, within the first minute after his test subjects expired. Dr. MacDougall’s experiment did not have enough samples to be considered definitive, and requires repeating to see if similar results would be acquired. The real question is, will anyone ever have the nerve to try repeating it? It was controversial then, and undoubtedly would still be so, today. Though if conducted with the patients comfort in mind and with the use of nonintrusive digital scales, built into the death bed, such measurements would be much more accurate than Dr. MacDougall could have achieved in 1907.

Matter and Energy are Interchangeable

With Albert Einstein’s realization that matter and energy are interchangeable, E=MC², the question becomes moot. Matter is nothing more than reorganized energy. Whether the soul is pure energy or the above mentioned energized matrix of particles, it really amounts to about the same thing. This is especially true, with the realization in quantum physics that particles alternate between the two states of energy wave, and particulate matter.

Terrible Consequence

If this is actually true, then there is a terrible consequence for a person being at the heart of a thermonuclear blast. That level of destructive energy is capable of complete disruption, thus eradication of soul energy. This would mean that the people at ground zero in Nagasaki, and Hiroshima were utterly destroyed, not just killed. Their very souls were scrambled beyond survival, thus devastated with no chance of any form of after life for these unfortunate victims. This is why nuclear weapons may well be the most immoral of all weapons to ever exist.

How Can We Continue to Support Such an Immoral Form of Weaponry?

It may be that there very existence is a constant threat to the essence of the human soul. It is for this reason, if no other, that all thermonuclear explosive devices must be dismantled the world over, and never built again. There continuation is a repugnant blight upon humanity!

The Soul is spiritual, not any form of physical energy as we know it, I agree that Nuclear weaponry is immoral though, but the idea that “nuclear explosions destroy souls” is utter madness

This is a terribliy disturbing concept. How can we know what kind of atrocity may be committed when we use such powerful weapons on people. destroying not only bodies but perhaps their souls. this article chills to the bone.

Can you really be sure? I hope you noticed that in my article I posed the concept in the form of questions. And in my conclusion, I started the sentence, “If this is actually true,” I was careful to indicate that I only consider this idea of nuclear explosions destroying souls as a possibility, rather than just saying outright that I believe it is so. Much is uncertain. But I maintain that the exact nature of the soul is equally uncertain. I can not say that I know the exact nature of the energy of which the human soul is composed. If it does exhibit measurable weight, as Dr. Duncan MacDougall’s research potentially indicates, then there may be no distinction between spiritual energy and physical energy. If they are one and the same, then the consequences are clear. At this point there are too many questions left unanswered for any of us to draw definitive conclusions. Until we can answer those questions, then the truly moral thing to do is get rid of these horrific nuclear hazards.

    Sincerely,

It certainly is a disturbing concept. I hope it’s not true. But even if it’s not true, I do agree that nuclear weapons are the most immoral of all weapons to ever exist.

dude, I can’t even express how un-scientific your article sounds. This is wonderful science fiction, but all but the most radical philosophers have completely discarded the idea of a soul comprised of mass-energy.

That said, I’ll take any argument against nukes and endorse it

I have a theory that the human energy body that certain so-called psychics say that they can travel out of body in and that which persons involved in so-called near death experiences claim to have is simply a body made of a material, perhaps super cooled non-relativistic neutrino material that is produced by the electroweak unification between the electromagnetic force and the weak nuclear force. As one might be aware, the neutrino is the particle with zero electric charge but which interacts with matter through the weak nuclear force reaction. A beam of pure neutrinos can accordingly travel thru light years of lead and remain largely unattenuated.

My theory in another version is that the material out of which human and extraterrestrial energy bodies are made is composed of photo-neutrinos which would be a hybrid force particle with characteristics of both the electromagnetic photon and the weak force neutrino. My theory would explain why energy bodies appear or at least are reported to pass through material objects by those having near death experiences. Which ever version of my theory is correct, the electroweak unification in physics, the basic form of the theory for which a Nobel Prize was awarded, is the basis for suggesting that super cooled neutrinos, or photo-neutrinos, can interact by electric fields or electronic like fields and thus form the continuous material that energy bodies and auras appear to be made of in the form of aggregates of massive numbers of cooled neutrinos or photo-neutrinos in bound states.

How might nuclear radiation destroy the energy body?, by weakly, electromagnetically, or electro-weakly interacting with the energy body, spirit body, or human or extraterrestrial souls. This possesses a serious problem, because then charged particle beams, laser beams, and intense enough radio-active decay might then be used in weapon systems to destroy energy bodies or the souls, not just of those who are alive and remain within there bodies, but also the souls or energy bodies of so-called astral-projectors if such related phenomena exists. The weapons might even be used to destroy angels. Heck, some would say that Hell Fire can ultimately destroy souls and slay the fallen angels including Satan as in the paraphrased Sacred Scripture of the Holy Bible and description of the end times in the Apocalypse. Perhaps God way of doing such may simply be the result of allowing a horrible nuclear to occur.

A really interesting ultimate kind of rail gun that might be capable of destoying souls and perhaps created spirits in general might entail a system capable of accelerating charged particles to an energy at which they would become black holes based on the particle’s Lorenz length contraction and the reduction of their quantum mechanical wave function cross section based on the inverse dependence of the wavelength of the particle with its mass.

Imagine that somehow, a subatomic charged particle could be accelerated to an energy of 10 EXP 35 electron volts very quickly. Such a particle would be a black hole with a kinetic energy of ~ 10 EXP 16 Joules; the equivalent of 100 grams of mass. Such a black hole would not decay quickly with respect to the back ground reference frame (perhaps defined by the cosmic microwave background radiation as a universal reference frame) due to relativistic time dilation. A proton accelerated to 10 EXP 35 eV would obtain a relativistic gamma factor of about 5 x 10 EXP 25. Such a particle, I could imagine, could punch through any conceivable physical machine or element of infrastructure although it might not interact much with it because of its small cross-section for interaction.

I would imagine that the energy density of such a particle in large numbers could more than outdo the effects of Hell Fire given the discription of the painful effects of Hell Fire described by apparitions of persons who alledgedly appeared to their loved ones on Earth telling their Earth bound loved ones to pray for them and that they were confined temporarilly to the most painful levels of purgatory. Simmilar reports have been given by persons who supposedly went to Hell who have alledgedly appeared to their friends or loved ones warning their loved ones of the reality of Hell after their passing from this life and unfavorable judgement by God.

A beam of such particles produced by a mechanism of unheard of power production, perhaps powered by latent energy extracted from the zero point vacuum fields, could be a near ultimate death ray, possibly capable of not only destroying human souls, but the souls of any intellegent extraterrestrials and perhaps also able to destroy the pure spirits known as angels.

One could imagine a human civilization in the far distant future capable of accelerating a particle to a kinetic energy equal to the mass of the Earth. Note that an Earth massed black hole would have a diameter of about 1 centimeter and so a black hole accelerated to have a relativistic mass of the Earth could do great damage to any planet, satellite, or space craft it would pass through, even given its relatively small cross section. No technology in the universe could stop this baby!

Even if the equations of Special Relativity do not break down at ultra-relativistic velocities, the absolutely limiting value of C only limits the kinetic energy of projectiles to infinity with infinite destruction capability.

The possible violation of Special Relativity such as has been proposed in the Theory of Doubly Special Relativity might even permit particles to be accelerated beyond the speed of light to enable superluminal velocity death rays. In Double Special Relativity, the speed of a photon in a vacuum is related to its energy. Accordingly, the difference in velocity of an optical light photon and a nuclear reaction energy level gamma ray would be so small the gamma ray would outrun the optical light photon by only milliseconds after having traveled a distance of a billion light years. However, as the energy of a photon approaches the Planck Energy Level, its speed increases dramatically. In at least some versions of Doubly Special Relativity, the limiting value of the speed of a photon is infinite; an infinite number of light-years per second. I would not be surprised if sufficiently energetic baryonic particles could reach superluminal velocities as well.

The point to all of this is that I think massive projectiles will always be used as an instrument of armed conflict, whether offensive or defensive. Whether we like it or not, the proverbial gun is here to stay. But we need to be careful as a civilization both now and far into the future of what sort of weapons systems we construct. Do we really want to continue the developing weapons, some of which just might oneday have the ability to destroy pure spirits? I think we need to be pro-life rather than pro-death.

I understand the view, and I think the test for souls coming out and giving off energy is not true.
I believe the soul to exist in another plane of existence entirely and am therefore not afraid of destroying souls.

Nuclear warheads are no more immoral than any bomb or gun. They are simply weapons of higher magnitude of destruction. Like driving a buss instead of a car, its how you use it that matters, even though the buss misused will have a worse effect.

Violence will always exist, while humans are in charge. The closest we can hope for, is that we have the bigger rock and it dissuades others from chucking theirs.

If you can get N korea to give up their nukes, then by all means…

My father was told that nuclear weapons destroy the soul by a CIA operative who specialized in paranormal research. I don’t know if it’s true but it has disturbed me for most of my life. She said the soul is comprised of physical energy and that nuclear weapons destroy it at the molecular level.

I’m not surprised that a CIA operative, specializing in the paranormal would have access to that level of information. And I understand your disturbed feelings about it. I too find this very concept very disturbing.

A brilliant discussion. It is terrible and horrific. I personally feel that the soul is immortal. Nuclear weapons of course should never have existed. Another great share Bill.
