Do You Really Believe in The Concept of Inalienable Rights?

A question to whoever reads this article about if they truly believe in individaul freedom and liberty.

I have a blog site on which I have put a political pamphlet. In the days before the electronic medium political pamphlateers were common, we put our political opinions and dissertations on blog sites. The title of the site is The Myth of Inalienable Rights. The full title of the pamphlet is The Myth of Inalienable Rights as Applied to the War on Drugs: The Tyranny of Legislating Morality.

I used the issue of drugs–consensual adult drug use only–because I believed, and still do, that the prohibition against consensual adult drug use is the biggest rights-violating scheme that our government has ever come up with. If adults do not have the right to the full ownership of their bodies and minds, as in deciding whether or not to use a mind-altering drug, then they do not fully own the property of themselves and are de facto, if not actual, slaves to those who do control that decision, that is, the government.

I want to make it clear here and now, I am not saying that anyone should use a mind-altering drug in a recreational manner. But, as adults, that decision should be left up to the individual, not the government. And remember, alcohol, a true narcotic drug, is also a dangerous and mind-altering drug, one that causes far more harm overall than all the presently illegal drugs combined.

Not only is alcohol legal to adults but it is the favorite mind-altering drug of presidents, politicians, prosecutors, the police, and judges.

In my political pamphlet I propose a definition for inalienable rights in a truly free and liberty-loving society, one in which adults fully own the property of their bodies and their minds. Neither Congress nor the Supreme Court has ever made such a definition. I believe that needs to be changed. My definition is as follows:

  • Any and all non-violent, non-coercive, non-larcenous, consensual adult behavior that does not phyically harm other people or their property or directly and immediately endangers same, that does not disturb the peace or create a public nuisance, and that is done in private, especially on private property, is the inalienable right of all adults.

I want to hear from anyone who agrees with the above statement. I know that there are many things going on in our society right now that demand our attention. But if you agree with me and if we can demand that the government give us back our full inalienable rights, whether in regard to drug use or whatever, then we will have taken a giant step towards true and full individual freedom and liberty, which has slowly been taken from us, piece-by-piece over the decades.

Remember, just because my pamphlet is about rights and drug use doesn’t mean that the the principle of inalienable rights cannot and should not be applied to other issues where appropriate.

So, again, if you agree with me, let me know. And do go to The Myth of Inalienable Rights to read my full dissertation on why the govenment has, and continues, to violate the rights of all  adults citizens. It’s rather long, but well worth your patience, and the addendum, Crime, Organized Crime, and Criminals, might amuse you.

If you agree with me then let your friends, or anyone you think would agree or should be informed of what I am saying, know about this article and my pamphlet.

Let us demand our full inalienable rights back from the government and let us make America a better and safer place to live. (Click on this link and find out what I mean by that.)
