my son turned 18 several months ago. he bought a car and began leaving every day to hang out with someon that had just been busted for drugs. i tried reasoning with him to appeal to his common sense–to no avail. now he is living in a house with four drug users, five including himself; and three of them have been caught in various other crimes such as stealing checks and forgery to armed robbery. he does not bathe, he’s not eating, he’s had a “stomach ache” for weeks now, he sleeps all day, he lies, he denies, he won’t answer his cell phone when i call, he won’t answer text messages. he wrecked his new car not too long ago. i need to get him help, but don’t know what to do. he will not talk to me like a mature, reasonable adult. he whines, he is rude, and he is argumentative. he is planning to go into a business adventure with a guy on methadone–who also still does illegal drugs every chance he gets. surprise–my son’s money will be financing it. he thinks i am stupid and ignorant and that i don’t know what i am talking about. just when i think he is thinking clearly he does something totally stupid and irresponsible.

i loved him so much and he admitted he needed help but would not let me help him. i had to let him go.i could do no more for him

There is help out there but unless they want it, there is not alot that you can do. That can be difficult when they refuse your help or anyone elses and push you till there is nothing left to give to them.
