Drugs and the Stupidity Surrounding Them
The war on drugs has failed, it’s time fora new approach. No more bull…
Right now we spend tens of thousands of dollars away each year on arresting, prosecuting and imprisoning petty pot heads, people who have families and jobs and who pay taxes. In fact 70% of Americans smoke pot regularly and as much as 90% have at least tried pot once. These people are normal folks who are not violent criminals but hard working Jo’s. A main focus in this war on drugs has held pot high on the pedestal, they government has actually claimed that pot can lead to psychotic and violent behaviour and is a gateway to more harder and addictive drugs. Come on are these people serious? The shame is, that 30% of people actually believe this crap to be true, and that just enough people to keep the stink going.
Look I’m not saying any drugs are okay but to say that pot is at all equal or even a gateway is to funny, for goodness sake doctors give it to people, for hundreds, yes hundreds of different health related reasons. Reasons like cancer, depression, recovery from physical and mental trauma, the list could go one and on. The point of all of this is the government doesn’t have the right to pick and choose what should or shouldn’t be legal, and neither should we. Take it all away and have major crime and overdosed or legalize it all and educate and make readily available resources that people are no longer afraid to use. Free up our police, courts and jails, stop spending billions on bull crap, they money could be used for health care, employment, and schools.
A few more quick stats…
Top three drug uses in America
- Alcohol= causes 50,000 health related deaths a year not including drinking and driving and violent physical deaths due to intoxication
- tobacco= Causes 440,000 health related deaths
- Marijuana=0 deaths health or other wise have ever been recorded, EVER
Interesting don’t you think, I know further down the line other drugs kill thousand too but as I said with resources and education having these drugs legal wouldn’t be pandemonium…I mean really…So think about it, and leave your hopefully not to nasty comments….

I’m not saying drugs are good in fact they are terrible but alcohol and cigarettes are terrible and we don’t lock people up for using those unless they are causing trouble. Our jails are running over with people who have committed petty crimes and the over worked police officers are running around trying to catch pot smokers.I say treat petty drug users the same as tobbacco smokers and alcohol users.

I do not agree with using drugs but I think that people should be educated well about them. I do not think that it is enough to just base making drugs legal on personal opinion alone, it should be looked at on all levels and angles. Critical thinking should be key. However whether drugs are legalized or not preaching “say no to drugs” is just as useful as preaching “abstinence”…It’s just not enough. I remember being in 6th grade going through the DARE program and I knew for a fact that half the kids in my class had done drugs and drank alcohol. Yet the whole class passed the program. Teaching people as “in depth” as possible of the effects of drugs will not mean that all people will not use drugs but ignorance will play a smaller roll in this area.
