Drugs

Drugs, the death of humanity!

This brings me to my second point. The point is that of using drugs for identification. This is also adding on to peer pressure. Everyone has their look. The Emos, Gangsters, Goths, Preps, Greasers, Skaters, Valleys and Vixens do what is necessary to fit in. This also pushes drug use, especially in the gangster mentally. Practically every rapper begins to describe 4 basic things, Life, Drugs, Money and Women.  Not only does Life and Money push on depression, Women the encouragement of disgrace towards them and Drugs the uses and how it helped them.  Dr. Dre released the Album Chronic 2000, Afroman released multiple songs in reference to drugs such as “Colt 45” and “Cause I Got High”, Eminem’s former songs tend to deal with drugs as well such as “Drug Ballad”. This is not just merely a form of entertainment but it begins to repeat in your head. These songs become mainstream and begin to form the mentality.  Just as Beetles Boomed they changed hairstyle, musical tastes, political views and the fashion.  Then metal and punk radicalized the world. This is just the beginning.  Rap has influenced our language, our clothing and our views. These views again are the attitudes towards life, and morality. This movement is the advertising of the young. The usage of drugs has fallen until 1992, after which it shot up incredibly. 1980 was the closest thing to current rap but rap only had its breakthrough in 1990’s and by the end of the 1990’s was when Hip-Hop and rap broke through, while this rise in drug use could be accounted by demographics. The problem is that in Canada’s youth remains steady and USA is declining proving to us that while young people are more likely to use drugs with less youth and a higher amount are using drugs tells us that drug use has increased in percentage in the last decade.

My final point about drugs is the reputation. Drugs are not regarded as evil killers or causes of mental break downs. They are regarded as something that is simply on the spur. LSD, PCP, Marijuana are all just regarded as trippy images and colours. The problem is that people don’t recognize the horrid reality of their repercussion.  Cocaine’s long term effect is Paranoia and Restlessness. Long term Marijuana use is brain abnormality, emotional and memory deterioration, increased aggression, fear and depression. Both look like line ups for mental cases. Some cannot stop twitching, or stay still and are paranoid, while other just sits quietly, but what they contemplate maybe thoughts of suicide caused by chronic depression.

We see the death of humanity is the deaths of individuals who help the world prosper. The Domino Theory and the Broken Window Theory show us that once one person falls to drugs another will soon follow, then another.  Soon enough everyone will be using it. This is the effect of the environment. This is the environment of drug abusers will soon be the collective identity of the world. Even if this is the reality we would still ignore the facts of what is to come. For we assume that if the users knew this they wouldn’t use the drug. Even at the point you know you cannot stop. Cigarettes are a known enemy but the users still struggle to stop constantly. This is the power of the drug. The problem isn’t one that affects us once like a car accident but one that reoccurs in family life, work, school, friends and everyone around you. It becomes a punishment for human weakness. And even Carl Jung said “Every form of addiction is bad, no matter whether the narcotic be alcohol or morphine or idealism.”
