Effectively Drafting Strategies

My last written project transpired several days ago as I drafted my preliminary response to a recent Emergency Preparedness Course which I had attended. I thought at length how this material from the class could be exploited in a positive manner to enlighten people who typically know little about the topic. I then decided to take some of the notes from the course and apply them constructively towards the learning objective which I advocate on my website. In this particular case the end result was a better understanding of terrorists and their tactics for my valued visitors.

Initially, I decided to draft a free flowing outline from the training material presented during the classroom course. From there I fine tuned the data to not only reflect a survivalist mindset, but also to divulge what common everyday people can do towards combating these types of suicidal elements found in today’s society. This assignment was self imposed and not completed at a professional level. I knew in advance that a list of references would not be required; however relative information relating to the topic at hand was still vital for the beneficial completion of the article. As with any of my other writing requirements this started out as a rough draft featuring an abundance of scattered thoughts combined mutually with infinite typographical and grammatical transgressions, but during my drafting stage I set my major goal to merely place my loose thoughts upon the paper in front of me or in this case within the confines of the word processor program.

To better analyze the precise progression which I followed I proceeded to sketch the details on a separate screen and format the identifiable strategies that I undertook towards completing the project. From my initial outline I methodically organized my every thought and started to insert details to each entry, backing them up by valid examples. In this unique project I resolved to base my writing style upon the critical thinking objectives which we have been mastering in our weekly class assignments.

My process list included support for the topic in question which was entitled, “Defining the Suicide Bomber”. My premises were that in order to contest such a class of people one has to understand their inner workings. We must get into these minds and see just what makes them click. Under this outline heading I placed several subheadings such as:

  1. Irrational focus upon violence
  2. target groups which these people center upon are innocent civilians
  3. Mentalities which deem their death as preconditions for a successful mission.

As if this were not sufficient to concentrate upon I further broke it down into the three types or classes of suicide bombers which are tracked by our government. The types listed were Type I, II and III. Each type of bomber received a brief but effective identifying paragraph.

My concluding goal was to enhance the knowledge of visitors to my site towards recognition of the hazards that are often overlooked by the casual civilian. I speak of people here as those that know little about the inner workings of a terrorist organization. Frequently after I have written an article of this nature I will pass it on to various family members for an informal initial review and ultimately the script will be post it on a social network such as “Facebook” for further evaluation. This process may not be the formal “peer” review presented in the textbook but it still provides valuable feedback to me. Finally it gets posted to my website.

Glancing back at the process that I followed I realize that it would have been total chaos if I had not organized it as I did. The topic is customarily such a sizeable venture that one could get lost and bogged down with all the various branches of the subject. It was necessary to narrow my vision to a smaller section and work effectively from there.

The final outcome was that I received verification of the strategy steps that we have been discussing with friends, they work and they are certainly reliable. Actually, the more I utilize then in my outside work the easier the process becomes.
