Electronic Games
Young people of this age are being ruined by the electronic game. What is the outcome of this?
Is all this stimulated violence harmful? Many have suggested that is connection between violence in games and aggressiveness in the players. A psychologist, says that violence in computer games from children in same way soldiers are formed to overcome their inborn resistance to killing. Computer games violence is even more dangerous than where it is shown in television or movies. This is because a player identifies himself with a character carrying out violence. Television can make us spectators of violence; a computer game makes us feel like participants.
Furthermore, a movie may take a child only a couple of hours to watch but a child may spend up to 100 hours mastering a type of video game. So many youths play all night long and having trouble staying awake during school studies the next day.
Effect on Health
Repeatedly, some 40 percent of Nigerian children between 8 – 11 years of age are chemically obese. This problem is caused by lack of exercise as a result of too much time spent in front the screen. Eye problem may result from starring at a screen for great length of time. This is because the rate at which the eye blink may slow down, causing dryness and imitation of the eye. The youth spend a lot of money patronizing internet cafes thus aiding game industry to boost the more.
The Risks are Real
None of us can afford to endanger our health, waste inordinate amount of time and money or to accustomed to violence and killing. The scene of this world is changing, but nothing seems changes faster than the entertainment media countries should implement classification system designed to point out that brutality and violent games that are harmful for public view especially children. The production industry of these harmful games should put a stop to this neutrons development. Parents should take proper care in their children upbringing. They should be conscious of their children’s quest for gaming and directives should be given to them.
Finally, children, like the rest of the youth need to know that our greatest needs can never be filled by entertainment via computer, television, or any other medium. True happiness as Jesus said crones to those who are conscious of their spiritual needs’. Please, let all put hand together and help to fight this ugly canker worm eating deep in to the fabrics of our society.
