Electronics and Relationships
With the availability to communicate comes a new world war.
We have a new world war that is killing thousands and no one seems to be picking up a weapon to defend us. With the implementation of the all the electronic devices, cell phones, email and computers it’s very easy to communicate the wrong signals. Communication has actually become too easy and there is no effort put into resolving issues that arise; it’s become easier to move on to a new one, or have “back ups” so to speak. There is more available to them. Its easier to hide activities away from the home. I know that sounds a little off as far as hiding things because with communication being easier you would think that it would be easier to track what people are doing. People are forming new identities and talking to more and more people. People are hiding more and more secrets and relationships are changing. We’re not verbal communicators anymore and it’s hard to know exactly who anyone is.
With the ability to communicate all day long comes the added addiction. We have gotten so used to feeling the vibration or hearing the sounds that let us know someone is thinking about us. If we spend a few hours without it we are checking our phones and wondering why no one is talking to us. It has increased tension in relationships, makes us feel lonely and unwanted causing us to seek out more and more people to keep that addiction supplied. Financially we are spending our money not on drugs but on the cost of attention. This addiction is costing us thousands of dollars a year. The euphoria is different because it doesn’t actually give us the normal high that a drug would but it is giving us a mental high. We crave it causing us to build relationships, that before electronic devices, wouldn’t be possible.
Along with this new craving comes the ability to keep secrets. Texts, emails and other forms of communication have become easier to hide. How easy is it to put a different name in your phone, on your chat, so that your significant other doesn’t really know exactly who your talking to. Taking a phone call outside has become easier. When we used cordless phones there was still a distance barrier you had to deal with before you were out of range. With cell phones and other devices that distance has expanded. You can go anywhere and talk. You can get texts that can be erased before anyone else sees them. Your secrets become larger, your world becomes larger and the ability to communicate, build other relationships with other people has just exploded.
