Enemies are Closing in — The War Isn’t Over
So many wars between Israel and its neighbors have ended with Israel’s victories, but now looms the apparitions of hostility again; only this time, it augurs to be a different kind of war with the world, stemming from a confrontation with a majority of members of the U.N., the bulk of whom being Africans, Asians, and Europeans whose votes in favor and against Palestinian statehood hang in the balance.

Obama himself might have joined the rank and file of the hostile members had it not been for the support of the Republican Congress. No matter how one may look at the impending scenario, Obama’s sentiment against Israel has already been proven as inimical when he declared that Israel’s future negotiations for peace must begin with the l967 borders, uttered glibly without giving any consideration to Israel’s lines of defense. The thoughtless finality of his speech obviates his ignorance of Israel’s vulnerability if and when it retreats to such borders. He should have known fully well, as President of the United States, that such a declaration on his part, had provided fodder for the intransigence of Fatah and Hamas who want nothing less than weakening Israel until it fades into oblivion.
At this point in time, any move by the United Nations to satiate the appetite of the Palestinians in their quest for statehood without negotiations will, indeed, be counter-productive, since there are barriers of non-starters that will not change the status quo. There is no doubt whatsoever that the Palestinians will not get what they want, nor will Israel give any more than what it considers as being biblically and historically its birthright.
