Environmental Problems and Solutions

This article is about some environmental problems of Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania and solutions to them.

The living conditions in our city are getting worse every year. Factories produce smoke and cars exhaust dangerous fumes while sewage is being poured into the river of Neris. In some parts of Vilnius it smells terrible because of huge amount of cars which exhaust fumes in that area. We must change something immediately or we will develop breathing problems and lose places to relax near the city in the future. Fortunately, there are many forests in our city which produce oxygen.

First of all, we must ban all old cars from being driven everyday because they produce too much carbon dioxide which is poisonous for people. To do this we must publish the law to ban old cars and help those who don‘t have the money for a new car by giving cars as gifts for them. As a result, we will breathe cleaner air and be healthier.

Another way is to make public transport better and more comfortable so that people won‘t have to use their cars to get to work and back home. We can do this by improving the transport itself and sending more public transport into the city everyday. We can also make a metro under our city but it will cost and millions and it will be too expensive for our city and all country. You will see the result when less cars will appear in the city streets.

To stop polluting our water and the river, we can actually do a lot. We can and we must put more filters into practice into our sewage system. Maybe we can even produce energy from the sewage filtered out! We must stop wasting water at home for things that we simply don‘t need. We must also stop littering around the river so that it won‘t get polluted and the fish won‘t be dying.

All in all, there are really tons of solutions to the problems of our city. And the sooner we start repairing the nature we have damaged, the healthier, safer, clenaer and better our lives will become
