Equality?

A modern evaluation of the current view and struggle for equality.

You can barely go a news outcast without hearing the word equality. Some where in the United States someone is claiming discrimination. Some might actually have something to be upset about. However, most of what you will see is people exploiting aged rhetoric for personal gain.

About a couple months ago there was a huge “scandal” over Planned Parenthood. Some Americans were complaining that they target minorities. Someone from there organization even took staged donations from people with the intent of hurting minorities. They might have had a point with some actual evidence, however they immediately switched there argument to the your killing babies, not just black babies. My point is they used the race card to get television time to voice their opinion of abortion. Sadly, the media played to them and didn’t notice they had been duped.

The gay movements have made headlines recently with headway made in New York. Are they satisfied? Absolutely not. Why? Aren’t they one course to have what they want, the government to acknowledge them as legitimate couples and support them? Yes, they are on that course but ask yourself is that what they really want. What they really want is the government to force people, who disapprove of there lifestyle, to believe that they are a part of the natural cycle of life. To mandate that those who abhor their lifestyle and beliefs accept them and believe that they are right. Sounds a little like Hitler doesn’t it?

Now lets discuss affirmative action. Forty plus years ago I would have been on board with the idea. It sounds good. Let the government mandate that jobs will have percentages of minorities in their ranks. Now lets take some examples, two firefighter applicants are being evaluated. One is exceptional and the other performs well below standards. The exceptional one happens to be black, but the marginal one is Latino. Well, the station needs a latino to keep its minority numbers aligned. So you have a marginal employee versus an exceptional one. Another example is in the Navy Corpsman. The corpsmen have the responsibility to care for the medical concerns of the Navy and Marine Corps. Disturbingly, they are graduating minorities that failed horribly because they need they numbers(not total numbers).

We must reevaluate the way we perceive this policy in our modern world. We need to let equality be actual equality and not marginalize the major of America because its politically and socially expedient. If your going to preach equality and love don’t sacrifice moral judgment.
