It can be very frustrating to be expecting a call and the battery is flat and there is no place nearby to recharge the phone. More wearisome is a situation in which a person is receiving an important business or lovers’ call and phone goes off.
One of the major considerations that an average cell phone user looks for in any brand of a phone is the battery life. Other features may be the wideness of the screen, the ringtones that comes with it, the size of the device memory, the accessories such as the charger, ear-piece, pouch etc. The battery life of a phone ranks high in the preference that a user desires.
It can be very frustrating to be expecting a call and the battery is flat and there is no place nearby to recharge the phone. More wearisome is a situation in which a person is receiving an important business or lovers’ call and phone goes off. The other party will have to really trust the person to believe that the call was not intentionally dropped. There are some brands of phones that are known to have a strong battery life while some are still battling with this problem, needless to mention here.
The following tips will help in increasing the battery life of a cell phone:
#1. Fully Charge before first use – if the phone is bought brand new, the user is always strongly advised by the user’s manual to allow the phone to be fully charged before putting on the phone. Experience has shown that if a user is overwhelmed by the euphoria of a new cell phone and refuses to fully charge it before using it, the phone’s battery life will be annoyingly short.
#2. Charge every other day – phones charged every day when they have not been fully discharged are more prone to have short battery life. Charging the phones everyday tends to lower the capacity of the battery. It advisable to charge the battery every other day so that the battery life will not be used to being half charged.
#3. Proper storage – just like any appliance or product, phones should be properly stored. Exposure to extreme temperature reduces the life span of the battery. Phone should not be kept in the car during hot season and should be kept close to the body during cold season. Exposure to direct sunlight tends to have adverse effect on the phone and its battery.
#4. Put off the phone periodically – it is not advisable for any justifiable reason to leave the phone on 24hours a day, 7 days a week. Shut down the phone for at least 10 minutes daily. Phones just like any other system need a little rest to catch its breath.
No matter the quality of the battery, bad maintenance will shorten the life span. It is essential to note those points aforementioned to enjoy a good battery life of a cell phone.
