Five Deadly Distractions for Drivers

It is important to be attentive when driving. Otherwise you could put yourself and others in danger.

There are many times where it is necessary in our lives to get in the car and drive somewhere. The point cannot be understated enough that when we get in the car and drive, the only thing that we should be focused on when we are on the road. Both hands should be on the wheel, both eyes on the road, and our full one hundred percent focus are on the road.

Given the number of on the road accidents a year, obviously there is a sizeable amount of people who do not follow that. Over thirty thousand fatal car accidents occurred in the year 2010 alone and that is just the fatal number. There are a number of car accidents that occur with people who have been in their wishing they were fatal. Most unfortunately enough, the people who pay the most in the car accidents are individuals who have observed the rules of the road. Innocents caught in the crossfire. Those who are inattentive on the road are among those who only escape with a few scratches on their body. Lawsuits are given but money is seldom a comfort for those who have lost loved ones.

Five Deadly Distractions for Drivers on the Road

It goes without saying that driving after having a few too many drinks or under the influence is not the smartest idea in the world. Barring that fact, there are many other actions that people take when they should be driving on the road.

5) Applying Make Up When Driving

Ladies(and some gentlemen too), no matter how much make up you put on, you won’t really look too good when your head goes smashing right through the windshield. A lot of people feel the need to apply their make up when behind the wheel of the car. Yet considering driving requires both hands, this is truthfully not the best idea. Again do this before you leave or not at all. Don’t do it when you’re on the road.

4) Eating or Drinking When Driving.

Not just alcohol, but really anything drinking behind the wheel. It takes your mind off of the road. Eating as well, you can warm up that Big Mac when you return home.

3) Changing the Station on the Radio when Driving.

Many would go one step further and say that listening to the radio at all when driving can be a distraction but as long as it’s overboard, it would be considered to be fine. What is not fine is fiddling with the stations with one hand, with one eye on the radio, and the other eye on the road. Make sure the radio station is what it should be before you leave.

2) Other people in the car being obnoxious when Driving.

Children tend to get a bit of a pass, as they do not know better. Of course most adults tend to be obnoxious and they really should know better. All it takes is one second to turn around and tell these people to knock it off, to cause a deadly car crash. Don’t let anyone ride with you that will be a nuisance. This includes family. Especially if you let them get to you.

1) Texting or talking on a cell phone when Driving.

People and their cell phones have caused many automobile accidents. Very many accidents, almost too many accidents to be rather comfortable. Cell phones should only be kept in the car for a life or death emergency. It’s not for gossiping. Texting is something that people do too much to begin with and is slightly foolish. It can even be more so behind the wheel of the car. Its against the law in some areas to talk or text on a cell phone. Sadly those laws are something that are nearly impossible to properly enforce.

So remember to buckle up and keep your full attention on the road. There are enough inattentive drivers on the road without adding one more.

This is a must read for everyone. These are all valid points. Drivers switching lanes and cutting off other people is annoying and dangerous as well.
