Five People Were Killed in Militant Attack in Pakistan

A number of militants opened fire on villagers Pakistan Tuesday, killing at least five civilians and wounded six people in the tribal areas that with Afghanistan, government officials said.

The attack took place in Shalobar area, Khyber, part of the semi-autonomous tribal region where the military to fight militants led by warlord Mangal Bagh, AFP reported.
“Five villagers were killed and six people injured,” said Sayed Ahmad Jan, a senior government official in Khyber, told AFP by telephone.
“Militants came with a car pick-ups and shooting villagers who stood by the roadside,” added Jan.

An intelligence official in Khyber told the villagers that helped force Frontier Corps (FC) dispels the militants, and he confirmed that the paramilitary forces conduct search operations in the area on Tuesday.
Elsewhere in Shalobar, seven people including two children and three women were injured when a mortar shell hit their house, said in january militants linked to al-Qaeda have bases in Pakistan tribal region, which is also the base behind the Taliban’s fight against US-led foreign troops in Afghanistan.

American forces said the militant group used the border as a place to do training, a rearrangement of power and launch attacks against coalition forces in Afghanistan.
