Flight 93

The memorial of Flight 93 is awesome.

Recently I had the opportunity to visit the Memorial for Flight 93. My wife and I were returning from my 50th High School Reunion in New York. We like to take the back roads rather than the major highways when we can. this one morning as we drove through the mountains in Pennsylvania we saw a sign directing visitors to the memorial.

We decided to follow and sure enough there in the middle of no where was the entrance to the memorial.

Even though it was raining and the night before it had snowed we felt we must take the opportunity to visit this wonderful sight. There is always a park ranger on duty to answer questions. While the site is in the early stages of being developed the tranquility is ever present.

At the end of a long walk you will find marble walls with a plague for each person who perished on the flight. The walls are lined up in the direction of the flight path which points to a large boulder in the field that indicates the final impact site.

As you walk along the path you cannot help but marvel at the courage of the people on the flight and the disaster that could have been.

We, as Americans, shall never forget what they had done.
