Former Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, judged worthy of replacing Dominique Strauss-Kahn as Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Former Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, judged worthy of replacing Dominique Strauss-Kahn as Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Dominique Strauss-Kahn has resigned as Managing Director of the IMF because of the scandal of sexual violence.

According to observers in Southeast Asia, Sri Mulyani considered to enhance economic growth in Indonesia. In addition, developing countries must be given the opportunity to lead the institution, and not monopolized by Europeans. The tradition of the IMF should always be led by the Europeans is unreasonable because it would be better not necessarily because it concerns human resources.

Experience as an Executive Director of the IMF’s Southeast Asia would have been very familiar with the agency. Moreover, coupled with the experience now as Managing Director of the World Bank, Sri Mulyani, would have understood the cultural and international labor standards. If indeed she is believed to be the Managing Director of IMF, these institutions will have strong credibility and influence in developing countries.
