Freedom is Free Isn’t It?
A look at how we are becoming less free.
I remember reading once where a famous writer of westerns said that laws are a freedom.I’m presuming that he meant that with a system of laws, and lawmen we are freed from the responsibility of enforcing those laws ourselves. While this may be true there is also the thought that the more laws we have the less true freedom we have..
Case in point:The recent trial of a politician in the Netherlands for so-called hate-speech.Allegedly said that the muslims are a terrorist religion, duh.Of all the acts of terror in the last forty years or so islamics have had their grubby little hands in them all.Whether they were caught or not is another matter. So if saying that islamics are the leading purveyors of terrorists acts in the world is hate-speech then we have an assault on the truth.Which is just as bad as this so-called hate speech. After all when is the last time we heard of Christians going on a killing spree of muslims(No matter how justified.)?
During the Reagan Administration we had the advent of Urinalysis,or piss-tests,to put it less delicately.I remember wondering how much money was passed to the Supreme-Court to uphold the legality of something that is so obviously illegal. We were told it was to combat the drug-problem.The same with No-Knock warrants where the Police no longer are required to knock on a door and Identify themselves. While it may be true that it has helped to hold the costs to insurers down(They don’t have to pay,so of course they save money,if someone fails the piss test.).It’s also true that the tests themselves are a clear violation of the fifth & fourth Amendments of the Constitution. No matter what these black-robed idiots say.
How many times have you heard someone say ,” I don’t do drugs,it’s alright by me if an Officer tears my car apart on the side of the road leaving me stranded.”Once having torn your car apart they don’t have too put it back together!Granted the last part of that sentence is a bit facetious. It wouldn’t bother them in the least to call you a tow (and charge you for it).Of course they might just charge you with littering.
Of course no freedom is absolute, and it’s true you can’t yell Fire in a crowded movie theater(Kids ask your parents what that is.).Of course if the damn thing’s on fire I hope someone says something!
