From the Moment of Conception

Everyone has thier own theory of when a fetus is truly a baby. Here is a short story of the journey of an egg and sperm.

There is so much controversy regarding when does a fertilized egg, become a fetus, and onto a newborn, but with modern technology, we can see that life begins from the moment Miss Egg and Mr. Sperm intertwine. It is the miracle of birth, and it has us all amazed! How is it that this tiny living fertilized egg becomes a human being? We are able to watch these two cells, become four, eight sixteen cells, eventually developing all the organs, bones and arteries we need. From day one to about the 266th day a journey, which takes about nine complete months; is about how long it takes for a baby to completely, develop. So realistically, from day one, the day of conception, there is life. Whether you decide to proceed and have a baby or to abort which is totally an individual decision.

So let us take the time to look at the journey from when conception has started; day one the egg and sperm meet creating one cell, what scientists call a zygote. In that one cell there are all the chromosomes, needed, to create a healthy baby. There are 46 all together; 23 from mom and 23 from dad, along with all the traits that a baby needs, the fingerprints, the sex, along with the eyes and hair color. This is all truly amazing!

Within the first week the zygote becomes an embryo, leaving the fallopian tube, heading to the uterus, which is preparing for the arrival of the embryo. Over the next few days the embryo, slowly embedding itself into the lining of the uterus, it is hard to believe that all this is happening and yet the embryo is no bigger that the period at the end of this sentence.

The woman’s body has been signaled that she is pregnant and that the uterus lining must stay in tack and support the embryo. It is usually during the fourth week that mom will realize something is happening, she is late getting her period, her breast may feel full, she may beginning to fell exhausted and suffer from morning sickness, as the baby is starting to take essential nutrients from mom.
