Gangs – The Problems They Bring and How to Protect Yourself
You have seen it in the news, mass shootings, robberies, death, all related to gang activities. In this article, you will learn about the problems that gangs can cause and how to protect yourself.
The Problems that gangs bring and reasons for violence
Members of large and small gangs are often linked to bad infulances, like drugs and alchoal. Often gangs need funding for their various, some times illegial or unhealthy activities. This may somtimes result in violance such as robberies, shootings, etc. Gangs may also result to selling drugs, which everyone knows, may lead to a varity of problems. Or, gangs may feel the need to harrass a neighborhood for various reasons. But whatever the reason, gangs often demoralize, vandalize, and distory a neghborhood if they stay around long enough.
What you should do
Most of the time, the best thing to do is to alert the law, (police,or whatever you call them) and have them take care of it. DO NOT attempt to derail a gang that is causing problems YOU CAN GET HURT. (But of course you already knew that). If gang activities still continue, and the law(poliece) are unable or unwilling to do anything, you may have to consider moving to another location. Your safety is your highest priority. I would reccommend that you vissibly add security if a gang is targeting your neighborhood. Motion activated lights may scare off vandels and robbers.
How to not be a target
Majority of the time people will not go the authority (police/law) because they fear of becoming targets themselves. This is a common barrier that many people face. It is your choice to go to the police or not, but remember, you are better off with a gang free neighborhood, and no one else needs to know who told the police that there was a gang in the neighborhood. Additionally, try not to be involved with any gang activities. If you see a gang (members) walk down the street, WALK THE OTHER WAY (Run if your safety is in danger). I hope this article helped you if you are facing a crime wave, or you just wanted to be safe.
