Genocide in Darfur

In Darfur, entire ethnic and religious groups are being killed. These people are being killed because of their race and lots of the African’s being killed are the Black Sudanese.

In Darfur, entire ethnic and religious groups are being killed. These people are being killed because of their race and lots of the African’s being killed are the Black Sudanese. Janjaweed Militias are targeting these African Tribal groups and killing them. 80-90% of African tribal groups have been killed and certain groups are being targeted. This is a result of Genocide.

Much of the targeting is quite simple because the location of all the villages is spread out and therefore they are easier to be attacked. Many times in Darfur people are separated into villages by their race which makes it really easy to target a certain group. Also, the Janjaweed work with the government to take them out. First, the government bombs the village which kills many and sets the whole village on fire. Then the Janjaweed ride in on horseback, or camel back and kill the remaining civilians and rape the women. They also loot any items they want before the fire burns everything to the ground.

This is why the Janjaweed are one of the most evil and violent militias. In this group of Africans, there is no backing down. Also, this group has nothing to worry about as far as getting caught. This is because they are working in tandem with the Sudanese Government. Also, they have been said to wage a campaign of rape on these women and force them into the desert where they later die. Ironically, the Janjaweed, and the people they are killing, the Black Sudanese look very familiar.

No one can stop this violent group. They have been around for years and we have known about them but no one has done anything to stop it. Very quickly, we need to find out how to stop them before it is too late for too many innocent people. They need to be prosecuted even though at the moment there is insufficient evidence.

Omar al-Bashir, the president of Sudan is the cause for many of these atrocities. He supplies the Janjaweed with money and supplies. Recently, The ICC has tried to prosecute al-Bashir for war crimes and crimes against humanity. They have to try him for these charges because it is extremely hard to prosecute someone for Genocide. If he is indicted for his crimes, other leaders may also be indicted. After being tried, Omar al-Bashir seized group assets and he threatened life saving operations in Darfur.
