Ghetto Horror: The Neighborhood We Live in

Society.

When my husband and I first moved into Milwaukee eight months ago, it was like a charm and a half. We got a cheap but elegant apartment on the south side. Our rent was so dirt cheap we had mega smackers left over to do what ever we wanted to do, plus we bought all the new clothes, expensive jewlery and other little trinkets and still had an ample amount of money for food and to save in the bank.

But little did we know that things were going to take a turn for the worse, once the summer months hit.

One day, I was walking down to street to the corner store to get a candy bar. On my way back, I heard somebody running and I did not have a clue what was about to happen, until I felt an arm around my neck. The grip of that person’s arm, made me almost pass out. Then, he grabbed my purse off my shoulder and ran in the opposite direction before I could even turn around.

I was so mad that I cried. I got mugged! And that is only the beginning of it all.

It’s like being in Prison. Myself and my Husband made a big mistake. We thought this was a nice safe area of town,  but when we found that this part of town was actually like any ghetto USA,  from one of the few nice neighbors around here my husband and I panicked.

There were shootings and murders right in our neighborhood at four ‘oclock in the morning. A store clerk got violently beat up the other day. He has a bad black eye and a fat lip. He told me that his store got robbed the other day.

Our neighbors are mean and spiteful. They keep on throwing garbage in our yard. They laugh at me and my husband whenever we go out any where. Don’t they have anything better to do? They throw stones and pop bottles at us.

There have been about four break ins to other people who live by us in a one week period of time. Four people got murdered right kitty corner from our home the other night. We call the cops, and they do what they can to control the violence around here, but as soon as they leave, the trouble even gets worse.

A friend of ours told us that he hired a roofing company to fix his roof. And after the roof was fixed, the roofers simply broke into our friend’s house and stole him blind. He lives two houses away from us.

People play their music full blast at one ‘oclock in the morning. My husband and I call the cops and they come and tell our neighbors turn down their music, but once the police are out of sight, up goes the music again.

Well, the murders, the shootings, myself getting mugged, the break ins and our trashy neighbors are hell to live around but we try to make it here the best we can.

Sounds like you might do better living in a small country town!! It’s getting bad here in New Caney as well because of the heavy influx of hispanics and I’m damn sure looking to move farther into the country. That’s the REAL country where the nearest neighbor is miles away!
