Global Warming and Computers!
Have you ever thought that your own computers are increasing risks towards the global warming??

Global warming has become one of the major issues in the recent times due to its continuous danger and threat to the earth’s atmosphere. Global warming is a slow and constant process that warms up the lower layers of the earth due to the increased concentration of green house gases like carbon dioxide and methane.

The extensive use of technology adds to the increased risk of global warming. For example the extensive use of internet increases the global warming due to increased air traffic. At the same time extensive use of internet inspire the people to buy more computers thus adding heat to the environment and atmosphere due to the extensive use of Carbon dioxide emissions. Furthermore, different studies have revealed that a manufacture of one single P.C requires about 1.7 tonnes of raw materials and water, and uses over ten times the computer’s weight in fossil fuels.

The well known companies like Google, Intel, Yahoo, Intel and HP all are located in United States and these companies are increasing the global warming at a great speed. Thousands of computers and IT products are made every day that are increasing the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and thus destroying the ozone layer.

Solution towards global warming threats:
As far as the increased risks of global warming are concerned with computers, there is an urgent need that we shut down our computers when they are not in use. The office workers who leave their computers on for several hours also add to global warming. It has been found that computers which are on at least three times a week, can waste approximately more than £100m of electricity every year. Automatic power saving settings on the computer are also helpful in reducing the emission of harmful gases from the computer and thus saving energy and reducing the threat of global warming.
