Mother Nature is the most important resources of the human race.The economy of the family and society springs from her abudnance and bounty.Water,streams,land,lakers,rivers,seas,plants and animals have direct and indirect relationships with the humanity.These are out natural producers and we can only survive if we nurture and take care of them by considering them our treasure.The symbiotic relationship between plants and animals is the perfect example of interdenpency.
Mother Earth is asking for our help.Occurence of natural disasters are becoming more frequent.This calls for creative and converntional ways to managing our environment and resources.We need to explore on more effective and cost efficient techniques in preserving nature.
The proglems of deforestation,land degradation and destruction of coastal habitats are rooted in poverty.Hundreds of millions of poor people are forced t overuse their habitats just to survive.The fast growing population exacerbates these problems.The destruction of the natural resource base is doomed to continue as long as the problem of poverty is not addressed.
The radical change in the relationship between nature and human beings was brought about vy scientific and industrial revolutions.Man uncovered nature’s secrets and thus exploited and tried to conquer nature.While it is true that modern industrial technology brought development to man,it is also made nature subservient to economic purposes and forgot nature’s need for self-renewal.The shift from an agrarian society to never ending industrial revolution and the irresponsible use of chemical substances placed nature in an unstable condition.This also has ill effects on the harmonious relationship between man and nature.The consequences of ecological degradation affect the entire world.the people who are still in the agrarian phase and those in the industrialized societies.The responsibility of the industrialized societies however is undeniable.
Today,the world is suffering and faces the serious taks of establishing a new and sustainable equilibrium.The means that the environment is no longer to be treated as a warehouse of resources and at the same time as a disposal sink,but rather as the site of life and habitat.We want it to be as clean,healthy,and beautiful as we can make so we can bequeath it to the next generation.The enviroment’s condition is crucial dimension of the quality of life in this world.
