Good-bye Privacy – Hello Health Police
Hide your junk food, the Health Police are coming. They are going to take your blood pressure and draw your blood. They will sneaking through your medical records because an Inquiring Government wants to Know. The upside I guess is that hiring Health police will create "new jobs."
Look out for the health police.
In the socialist “utopia” of Obama-Care, anyone who’s overweight, has high cholesterol levels or suffers from any other “unhealthy” condition will be forced to pay a penalty. Drinkers, smokers, seniors and anyone else Who doesn’t comply to the intrusive standards that will be set, look out, they’ll be coming after you too.
That’s right — under a terrifying new law that just made its way to Obama’s signature, anyone who doesn’t meet some bureaucrat’s idea of good health and a healthy lifestyle will pay the price. These insane new regulations are based on whatever will bring in the extra revenue that our government will be seeking. Someone actually needs to read what These clowns voted for. Believe me it isn’t what you were led to believe.
Now, you’d think this would contradict their promise of health care for everyone without higher fees for sick people or pre-existing conditions… and you’d be right. But this shouldn’t surprise anyone. This congress and this president are well practiced in saying one thing but actually doing another.
So time to get ready for some real Orwellian double-talk. These fees and penalties won’t be called fees or penalties. Instead, the lower rate would reflect something called a “wellness incentive” Or something similar.
Under this monstrosity, anyone who fails to meet these incentives will pay up to 50 percent more for coverage.
And trust me, Most of you WILL fail to meet the incentives. There was a a revealing report in the Washington Post on companies that have tried these incentive-based health plans for their employees. The article is filled with wonderful quotes about how they’ve kept company costs down. But it’s not because health care miraculously got cheaper — it’s because employees are paying much higher rates for falling short of their “wellness” targets.
I wonder how they’ll enforce it once it applies to all of us. Can You sat IRS Agents? Will the Obama-Care police violate Hipaa laws by sifting through our medical records? You bet they will! Maybe they will follow us around to see if we have the audacity to smoke or the nerve to order a beer? Maybe they will stop by our homes for weight checks, and go through the fridge and cupboards to make sure we’re eating what they consider to be an appropriate diet? Next do you think they’ll Interrogate sexual partners to find out if we’ve used protection? How about enforced exercise programs for all?
And don’t you dare even think about getting sick.
We all know how easy it is for blood pressure levels to spike suddenly when someone is under stress. Now, each time it happens it could lead to new a fine or fee. That’s probably enough stress to cause blood pressure levels to shoot even higher — leading to even more penalties. This is not the way to achieve “affordable” health care for all. In fact if anything we will be paying much more with all the penalties and fees along with the increase in taxes that will now be applied to cover the costs for those who don’t work or who will be exempt from paying for their own coverage. People, please watch and listen to what these double speak politicians have up their sleeve. Be informed on what they are doing to us. Get informed!!!!

I knew Obama-care was insane, but that is no surprise. Good article Jamie.

I share your philosophy and concern but I sincerely believe the bill to which you refer will never reach the president’s desk.

Hi Jamie
I disagree with you but I think your point is well presented and well written. As far as what I think on this issue, I need to keep it to myself as I don’t have the guts to share it with others. I think you did a nice job presenting your view.
Blessings to you,
Chris

Chris thanks for your comment and Know that I appreciate that your point of view differs from mine and I respect that. Isn’t it great that in our wonderful country having differing points of view is perfectly ok? Only those who don’t believe in freedom try to silence or ridicule those who don’t agree with them. I will always welcome others ideas and points of view.
Ken, I do hope you are 100% right.

Another well written punchy article, Jamie. So, it’s not just Britain that\’s become a ‘nanny state’?

It passed! hard to believe eh, i am still unclear how this is going to effect me and my family in particular. But WOW!!! How can things get more crazy?
How will they enforce this? Homless people , people on welfare? How will they make these people pay for health care? How about the unemployed?
How about me?
