About self esteem.

Image via Wikipedia

Years ago when I was in high school this comment was said to me”" I wish I was thinner”"which struck me as absurd because the person I was speaking to was weighing “120 “if so much .

Teenagers look at weight as a crisis rightly so, when they are bombarded by the media with very thin models as examples, we as adults are not exempt from these subtle pressure from society to conform with this behaviour, even I who is not large person was  told I could lose a few pounds because of my height.

As time marched on I realised that person who are unhappy with themselves or who goes through problems on a day to day basis eat to fill a need food provides or in my case  depression. Psychologist has try to get to the root of this eating disorder by first  analysing  the problem and they came up with ” if you fix problems everything will miraculously go away “”as the British say “”POPPY COCK”"

We live in a world riddled with Strife  Poverty  Child Abuse  Domestic Violence  Racism etc, and that is just to name a few and them we are ambushed by persons who says you need to lose a few pounds in order to look “good” and we blindly obey because they seemed to be the authority on this subject. There are persons who will not enjoy one scoop of ice cream on a hot day because they are conscious of gaining weight,  the reality is if it was not doctor recommended in other words your health is not at risk why create problems, eat moderate exercise drink lots of water and get  if possible eight hours of sleep and it’s a gurantee you will remain healthy.

You nailed this one! It is so true. Other peoples perception on us and the media doesn’t help either. We as humans begin to feel trapped and land in a state of depression because we feel we’re not good enough or we won’t be accepted by the world because of our outer being and physical traits. People should love themselves for who they are. I don’t condone a person to be extremely over weight but when a girl is a size 2 and someone or the media is pressuring them to drop some weight to fit into a size 0, I find that ridiculous! I feel that if a person is over weight then there are ways to go about losing the weight in the proper form. When people put pressure on girls as little as a size 2 it truly pisses me off! That’s why in today’s society more and more girls are having trouble with eating disorders. Great article Nesta. You gave alot of awareness and insight on the way to go by being healthy.
